No. You are not even allowed to use the social media center they are so proud of.

The place was designed by a moron. Camden Yards was built at roughly the same time and cost.

I can't say whether that is the case or not, although I do know it is policy in many places. The fact remains, the rich man in the suite can drink with impunity all the way through extra innings. This is an obvious case of discrimination against the working class folks of Alsip and Hometown. Don't treat me special or don't kiss my ass, just treat me like the way you treat 'em up in first class.

In fairness, the same architects designed both parks and they had the hindsight of what didn't work at Comiskey II. Also, as a public works project, the budget was limited. For as maligned as Sox Park is, that huge sweeping concourse in the outfield has been very influential and is incorporated into many of the newer parks. The new Busch Stadium is really just an update.

If I remember the story correctly, JR was presented with both a retro and contemporary design. He chose the contemporary design because it allowed for more sky boxes. Up to this day there are some sky boxes at the cell that have still not been finished due to lack of interest.

That design is on JR. He refuses to wear it but it is on him.

This is the biggest problem with the park, IMO. As much as other parks use the features of their city (I.e., Cubs, Giants, Orioles, Red Sox), the White Sox could have used the skyline/south loop parts of the city to make their stadium look a lot better. Thikn about it. Wrigley is pretty much a dump, but its so picturesque that for a lot of people thats all it takes. It looks badass with the ivy and neighborhood, and the Sox threw that away by facing the park south.

Yeah, the double set of skyboxes has been the major problem with the park the whole time. But they still haven't learned. It's that same thinking that made them refuse to give me another night game ticket after a phony rain-out in 2007 and the same thinking that makes them exclude the Red Sox from their free ticket offer. They know they're hurting for attendance when they're begging, and yet so many decisions seem to be made from the perspective that their product is in high demand.

And now the Cubs are throwing it away with signage. Monetize everything!

I forgot that the double sky boxes also mandated that the upper deck be built on a dangerously high pitch that also makes the seats further from the action. The result is that those seats have been virtually unsellable for the stadium's existence and JR ultimately removed thousands of seats from the area.

That stadium design is a full on, cash grabbing, fuck up by JR...but he has the survey showing that none of it is his fault, so it isn't his fault.

What gets me is these dumb asses act like they are doing somebody a favor.

I am sure in April I can go to Stub Hub and grab a seat for $2.00 if I am nuts enough to want to go and freeze my ass off.

So the generosity of Boyer is a $2.00 gift.

Thanks for everything, Brooks.

I'm not talking about that, or win another WS. I'm talking in the vacuum of Sunday's rain delayed game. I'm just wondering what the Sox should have done to make some idiots on a message board happy.

They gave a free ticket. I happen to think its decent of them to have offered something.

To be fair, the 2003 and 2004 renovations improved the 500 level dramatically. It's still high, but you can at least enjoy a game from there.

That's silly, Frank. I ate my tickets for Sunday because I would have been too damn embarrassed to offer them to anyone. But I got a couple freebies for next April coming. So I got that going for me, which is nice.

And that is your choice to eat them, Orr. I think its silly to bitch about it.

I'm sure you will end up using or giving away the freebies in April.

Probably, but it's not a big deal.

You want to know how I would have handled it? I would have done something for the people that were actually there beyond a free April ticket*. I'm not sure what, but a little effort would go a long way with people. Or you can just schedule more ethnic nights and dog days. For God's sake, there's more fucking dogs in that park than people.

* not including the Red Sox series

I can't see how anybody, including Frank, can still defend this hapless organization. These fucks have been to the post season 5 whole times in Jerry's 30 plus years. Attendance and INTEREST falling like a rock.

History repeats itself. Article in the Trib today about the 1970 White Sox. A total low point in franchise history. Here we are AGAIN.

I just want to see what these goofs are going to do in the offseason besides tell people they will go get REAL PLAYERS once fans buy tickets. It doesn't work that way.
Fans owe the Sox NOTHING, and they are showing it.
Fans don't change their stripes.....Reinsdorf has never let that get through his thick skull.

I might have even gone beyond that. Jerry should have gotten on the PA to apologize and thank every poor bastard who sat in the rain watching that crap. Or make Kenny do it!

And if Jerry did just that over the PA, you would be bitching about that saying he should be giving away free tickets.

Kenny has to be good for something. In a real organization, he is no longer there. At least Ozzie manned up and left.
What in the Hell does Hahn need rah rah Kenny Williams around for? Is Hahn in a Fantasy Football League?
