Yikes. Rock Jr. w/ Minimal Charisma is struggling here. Two non-obvious botches.

That's not to say either is safe .... just if we were talking about Punk/RVD I doubt safety would come up in the discussion. I could be wrong. It has happened on occasion.

RVD can be sloppy, but I dont' think he is nearly as dangerous as Ryback. RVD has 20 years under his belt and I don't recall anyone being seriously hurt by him (Sabu doesn't count because he was just crazy)

Abyss' two front teeth would like a word.

  I admit I never watch TNA so I can't vouch for his work there. But still - missing teeth happens with enough frequency that its not career ending. Hell it enhanced Foley's career!

When did Cole turn super face announcer? Wasn't he bagging on Daniel Bryan as recent as two months ago?

Bray Wyatt was in the background on the Total Divas show.

That can't happen.

I'd be willing to bet that's the first wedding video I've watched and said "Ha ha ha, Stinko Malenko!!"

The Rant™ has lost it's magic.

Much like the CSFMBWA did after Ugie was unceremoniously kicked to the curb.

This is even worse than Woodridge's comment.

He could be Lesnar 2.0.

Let him destroy people.

Not no-name jobbers.

Upper mid-card guys with name recognition.

Then graduate to a "legend" at Rumbel.

Culminate with a title win against World Champ at Mania.

By this point, fans will be over the moon about him and you have Heyman turn on him and make Ryback a face.

Print money.

I can't disagree strong enough against this. He doesn't have the charisma to be a face and can't carry a match like a veteran face needs to be able to do. He sucks. Just the latest Vince monster experiment with a push. Granted its lasted longer than most but soon enough he will join Heidenreich and Test on the non-pay windah line.

What charisma did Lesnar have when he came in?

I'll tell you. None.

He got over by being a monster and destroying everyone.

Same concept.

You know this.

Man.

Yea but he had a least some skills - Ryback has none. Other than putting a guy on his shoulders and stomping around the ring what can he do? If he ever did a moonsault like Lesnar did he would break his neck.

EDIT: Lesnar was an athlete first. Ryback is just a roided up turd.

Change his finish to a powerbomb.

Fucking Sid got over with zero charisma and a powerbomb.

It's booking 101.

They also should have never went put him in against Punk right away.

Then he would be fresh for a big heel run now.

Alas, their impatience got the best of them.

Test is a bad example, as he was talented but was repeatedly held back due to Triple H politics.

But please don't compare Ryback to Heidenreich. Guys like Heidenreich, Snitsky, Nathan Jones, Luther Reigns...those were big fucking stiffs with goofy gimmicks and no talent whatsoever. Ryback isn't in that group. Ryback is in the Goldberg, Brock, Batista category of intense big men with a great look and the potential to draw if handled the right way. Peeps is right. Ryback, with careful handling could be built into a major player.

See that's the exact group I think he is in. I can't recall any match of his (squash or non-squash) that was good. His stuff against Cena was all Cena carrying him. What other high profile match has he been in? Or even memorable match? I really can't think of one off the top of my head.

Ryback isn't scary crazy like Brock. The goof meathead always shows. Brock is a legit monster. I would rather see him embrace the meathead role. Have a pain and gain style bodybuilder meathead gimmick with someone else as a tag team.

I hear what you're saying, but most monsters need to be carried. Brock is probably the only one who could legitimately wrestle. DDP carried Goldberg to a great match in his first PPV main event. Triple H carried Batista in their matches.

I think what you do with Ryback is you put him with someone who can teach him how to WORK. Put Ryback in a four or five month program with a Punk, a Jericho, or a Christian and have them work around the horn at every house show. I guarantee he'd come out of it better. Right now he's just too raw. They need to rebuild him the right way.

Are you suggesting that Ryback - whom I had enough of the first time I saw him - can't get over as a top-tier guy because of his workrate (or lack thereof)?

Count me in the anti-Ryback camp. I actually think this run with Heyman will have some success. But that's because of Heyman. Punk needs a new monster opponent. It's not because they think Ryback can still be special. That ship has sailed. By the way, anyone notice "Heyman Guys" are getting worse. I think the McMahon's are putting polka dots on Heyman, and he's still getting over like Dusty. He's just that good.

To Kid's point, Ryback could probably get to a serviceable work level after a long program with a solid worker. Until he kills someone. He's dangerous. Probably the most dangerous guy I've seen in the ring for some time. I guess I'm in the middle of Speeps and Jackref. Yikes.

He's not in a Big Dave or Lesnar class. On an intimidation level, if I'm in an alley with Ryback, I assume I can talk long enough to get my keys out. I start jingling them, and make a fast motion to the right. While he's distracted, I get away. If I'm in an alley with Lesnar, I ask for a respectable killing like Sal "Big Pussy" Bonpensiero.

Not just his work rate, but his ability in general. I just don't see him able to have quality matches with several types of wrestlers. The top tier guys should be able to work with anyone and pull out their best - a la Flair, Savage, Michaels, Austin, Jericho, Taker etc... I know the counter argument is Hogan, Warrior, but that was a different era - no one believes in the big musclehead guys that are stiffs. He doesn't have to do 60 min matches, but his 20 min PPV matches should be a higher caliber than the rest of the roster, and I just don't see that with Ryback.

Kid you make a good point, he is still raw. They messed up with pushing him as a Goldberg type at first. The whole Goldberg phenomenon (which I still don't fully understand) was a once in a lifetime thing. If Ryback can figure out how to wrestle then he may be that next big star like Lesnar or Batista, but I just don't see it.
