The pound cake shoutout thread brought this to mind. I was at a work party a couple weeks ago, and someone brought an iced Bundt cake that to all the world looked like a Louisiana Crunch Cake. I shamelessly cleaved myself a slab of it and prepared for a foodgasm...only to take a bite and discover it was actually a lemon cake. Lemon! What the fuck? Did this office party turn into a bridge club for 80-year-old spinsters when I wasn't looking?

People who like lemon desserts should be dropped out of an airplane.

DENIED. Nothing like a nice lemon bar. Do you hate pumpkin things, too?

80-year-old spinsters, the lot of you.

I love pumpkin-flavored things.

Think you have to roll by yourself on this one Dave. Long time lemon guy.

I support you on this one Dave. But I'd also include pumpkin and apple based desserts so I'm sure I'm in the minority on this issue.
For the record: I don't hate any of the above...I just wouldn't choose them if offered alternatives.

You're killing me, Dave. Couldn't disagree more. As a chocolate hater, I find comfort in lemon confections.

Generally not a big fan of lemon if there are other fruit flavors available, but I did try this lemon bar & mascarpone combo that was to die for.

The Lemon Chill and vodka @ Wrigley Field works for me too

If life gives you lemons, please do not make them into a dessert.

Lemon bars are great. A nice lemon cake with some white chocolate icing is very refreshing.

I even liked Don Lemon. I was the one.

Is this in regards to all lemony desserts, or moreso "suprise" lemon desserts?

I'm with Reason, KD, and Dave. Lemon desserts suck. I have no clue why so many are pretending otherwise in this thread.

Wife's home made lemon bars are a solid second round dessert draft pick, every time.

Both, but the latter felt like getting spit on after taking a shot to the beanbag.

I will allow for the possibility that a poorly-made lemon dessert would be rather gross. The tartness has to be just right.

For a while, Costco had these little lemon cakes covered in that serious confectioner's glaze or whatever, and man, they were so good.

Ah, yes, these. Our Costcos don't seem to carry them anymore. Guess it's just big tubs of Madeleines for me.

The stronger the natural lemon flavor the better. Artificial lemon flavor is awful.
