I'm not sure what you define good portion as, but I wouldn't agree with that. Probably a lot of people who haven't read any of his stuff, but I'm pretty sure most people know the name.

I'm not sure that knowing who he is is a good barometer for... well, anything, really. I don't say that to be a dick. I just don't know if having heard of a writer makes one especially informed or intelligent.

David Foster Wallace is the former wheelchair bound Governor of Alabama who wrote the song "That's what friends are for".

You wake up, every day, at the same time, just to do the same thing over and over again. Affectation in a lugubrious day to day world is just being obsequious, but you keep pushing on. But after your 8-12 hour day at work, you just want to go home, maybe have a quick satiating meal, and go to bed because you know the next morning you have to do it all again. Then you get home, after spending over an hour in ubiquitous traffic, and find out you have nothing in the fridge. So you get back in your car, completely incommodious because everyone else is doing the same thing; and once you get to the store, you're powerless to the world of shoppers. And they make you angry because they're keeping you from doing your simple shopping that will get you back to your house in time to eat a very processed saturated meal that won't do anything but make you toss and turn at night while you're trying not to think you have to be up in 6 hours to work. But then you don't consider that maybe that other person in line has to get home in order to post about something Dan Bernstein said at 5pm whilst degrading another caller who was calling Jay Cutler "weak". Or, you're not considering that maybe the poor soul working behind the counter is on their 13th hour, has still not responded to Keeping Score's incessant PM's about whether or not they're a fan of Taylor Swift. You haven't considered that the person that's using all those coupons is just following what Seacrest told them to do hours on end. Or that you want to wield that shotgun that Darkside said is totally your right to have--although, you shouldn't be a crazy person about it. In Lakemoor, it's hard to tell. But you have to use discretion.
