Are there still threads about the radio shows going on? board is rolling on quite nicely without them last couple days.

Dan bitching about his kid acting like a meatballl caller and his wife mocking him for arguing with his kid was kind of funny.

I've had this show on for an hour and I have no idea what they are talking about.

Sounds like 60 solid minutes of Bernstein explaining something incredibly boring about PSU.

Matt is getting angry at Dan, from what I can tell, for no reason. Dan asked Matt what he didn't understand. He paused and said "I just told you everything!" He was referencing his 30-second diatribe that said nothing.

Dan's obsession with Penn State is beyond obsessive. Is anyone else in the country talking about this right now?

I love hearing Drinky challenge Dan though. That is worth listening to but like always, Drinky will most likely back down soon.

It's better when he challenges him and actually has something of substance to say in return. Wasn't the case when I was listening earlier.

Dan!
You're wrong, Dan!
Stop being an idiot!
Dan!
I already knew that, Dan!
Why are you being so stupid, Dan!
Dan!
Dan!

Drinky no longer has anything of substance to say. At least he challenges Dan though, instead of being a lapdog like Terry. Everyone kisses Dan's ass so much that it's just nice to hear someone actually disagree, even if the foundation of his point is flimsy at best.

Not listening (I've decided to discover Bjork today!), but if he's talking about what he talked about yesterday, how giving Penn State their scholarships back is a victory for the anti-Paterno contingent, he's grasping for straws. Dan is making a bad-faith argument that the Paterno fans don't care about the program, only the legacy of Joe Paterno. I don't think the two are mutually exclusive at all. While the JoeBots would certainly prefer that Penn State get their wins back, too, I'm sure they're also pleased as punch that Penn State in the here and now is going to get off easier than expected because they said they were sorry and Sandusky is bad. The latter point is, in fact, one the JoeBots have never once hesitated to make: they may be a bunch of hill-dwelling dumbfucks, but they do know well enough to cut bait on the convicted child molester, y'know?

So what this reeks of is two things. First, feverish spin to make it look like the NCAA didn't just undo part of the just punishment for the biggest institutional failure in sports history, one that didn't even go far enough in the first place, and thus making the last year or so feel kind of silly. Second, it's another outlet for Dan to engage in Sorkinian worship of the powered and credentialed: these people on the Board of Trustees are the good ones! Bill O'Brien is one of the good ones! He gets it! They embraced George Mitchell and the Freeh report! Lawyers were involved!

If this isn't what Matt was Dan-Dan-Dan-Dan-Dan-ing about, though, kindly disregard!

CH has one ear on Bjork and one plugged in to SCR. That was pretty much what it was until I went North of the boarder to 1250 AM.

This is good stuff, Debut. "Human Behavior" is like Florence and the Machine, minus the Waterboys influences, and without the mental baggage I have from F+TM in which a girl told me "happiness hit her like a bullet in the head" reminded her of how she felt when she met me, before she cheated on me and left me for an ex-boyfriend who works in Washington trying to make abortions illegal. Some wounds never heal. Anyway, Dan's full of it about this Penn State thing and should go back to railing against all things Penn State; there is an inverse relationship between the quality of Dan's wrath and the size of his target.

Is it correct that Jim Rome talked about Penn State and B&B didn't?

And now it's "finger up the ass" time on B&B.

Really rough show today. Between the PSU talk and having the fucking Dr. on, really? Then the 5 mins on how your call should start with Hub. Bernsie telling us about his morning conversation with his son was bad. Just showed how much of a dick Bernstein is, and how doppy his son is.

it all goes downhill pretty quickly after Debut. I remember returning a bjork CD i bought @ a best buy within a couple hours of buying it, tho debut's fine. Post at least has army of me, which I have fond memories of seeing the tankgirl video of on JBTV after my pre-driving saturday nights chock full of dialup BBSes after local long distance shut off at 9pm, the alternative beat/industrial zone, and then JBTV b4 passing out while my custom doom .WAD files were downloading.

But yeah, if you make it to ~97-98 and i think that one's.... homogenic? Whatever the case, on the one with jungle/dnb-sounding production, she wanted to go out and get someone hip and cool like aphex twin to boost her street cred. Aphex had toured with her in 95 and seemingly wasn't the biggest fan (hell, her own biggest fan decided to blow her face off in 96. that kind of says something to me) as he formally announced his intention to get around to bjork about producing that LP for her on the website for his 1997 come to daddy EP. i guess she tried for squarepusher too but that didn't work out, so when you've put in the mileage with goldie (a man who got a role as a james bond bad guy henchman in the one with denise richards) suffice to say, you can get some substandard jungle to croon over. and she did. and i'm thinking that was the one i returned to best buy within a couple'a hours.

but yeah, after that dude blew up her apartment i think she kind of became some sort of a bitch, which is understandable.... but still explains the music you get from 96-97 onwards. i personally wouldn't go there, but hey if you're dropping references florence and the machine influences you are already a far far braver man than i will ever be.

I vaguely remember a time when everyone made a huge fucking deal about Vespertine being a Generational Classic on par with Kid A, yet somehow it's been twelve years and I never knowingly heard a second of it. Maybe it wasn't Vespertine.

He never does, though. That's the problem with Drinky: he's not smart enough to really challenge Dan. The will is there, but not the capacity. That's a big reason why he's so useless.

Somebody should call in today and say how refreshing it was to hear Hub talk about watching the ball and how much they really agree with how right that is. I suspect that fuse is short.

Leery and Dan were, fairly recently, patting themselves on the back for all the great work they've done in making Bears fans smarter fans by teaching them the proper way to watch the game. Interesting how one of their experts (he was billed as "Senior Football Expert" last year) apparently watches football like a typical, dumb fan.

I certainly wouldn't expect Dan to jump all over Hub like he would a caller for saying that, but he could have at least engaged him in a conversation about the pros and cons of watching the ball vs. watching the line. If only there were someone at that station not afraid to ask the tough questions.
