BBC AMERICA’s “Broadchurch,” which earned critical acclaim, including BAFTA nods, and broken records on Twitter in the UK, centers on the investigation into the murder of a young boy in a British seaside town.

Leading the investigation are two detectives – the strong yet compassionate local Detective Sergeant, Ellie Miller (Olivia Colman), and the by-the-book Detective Inspector Alec Hardy (David Tennant), Ellie’s newly appointed boss.

By circumstance they are partnered to solve the murder, keeping the newspapers from derailing the investigation and trying to prevent the crime from impacting tourism at the beach where the boy was murdered.

Premieres tonight on BBC America.

Word is this starts slow but is completely worth the 8-episode investment.

I can see where it would be considered slow but it didn't feel like it dragged.

The suspicion is on the father, but he's most likely just having an affair.

Nige seems a bit shady, as does the psychic.

I used to watch Hustle from the BBC but only because Robert Vaughn was on it. He did a nice job on that show as an old conman.

Decent episode last night.

The crazy lady and Nige look like the main suspects now but that'll probably change next week.

Hardy and Miller's husband getting along swimmingly was a surprise so I'm almost expecting him to be the killer.

Hopefully we're done with the psychic now.

So Walder Frey killed himself last week because the town turned on him and called him a pedophile.

This week opens with the town funeral for him. The priest admonishes the town for killing Frey.

Two suspects emerged.

TTTTWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOO.

DI Hardy and Ellie had the suspect trapped but damn Ellie's mobile rung and Hardy collapsed.

For as much as this show was hyped, it isn't all that different from The Killing.

So I got Susan's story this week.

Her husbandmolested his daughters and killed the older one. Then he implicated Susan as well, causing her to lose her son. Who just happens to be crazy Nige.

Yes, I figured that was the case as soon as Ellie got all indignant at that crazy woman for not knowing what was going on in her own home. Telegraphed (as an aside, shouldn't this phrase be updated? I think we should say that they totally emailed that move or texted it or maybe that was completely Tweeted).

Last 2 episodes were very good. They certainly had a lot of viable suspects right up until the end. My main problem at the end was - wouldn't somebody know that Joe was getting that cabin all the time? How did he have access to it without anybody knowing. It was probably covered earlier when they first found the cabin but I don't remember how they got around that.

The new season started last Monday. I flew to London to watch it which is going to be difficult to keep up on a weekly basis unless someone knows another way to watch it here in the States.

I had concerns about this going beyond 1 season based on how that one ended but those are gone. Very solid beginning and such a logical way to pick up the story that I feel dumb not realizing this is where they would go with it.

There were some shaky things still but it's such a good cast that I'm not too worried about it.

I read an article about the older woman who is now the prosecution lawyer where there was concern that the other cast members were so intimidated by her.

So I looked her up and learned she was voted one of the top 100 sexiest movie stars of all time. Old pics - super hot. Never heard of her.
