Safety first fellers. Steal toe only. Working in plastic shoes is the option of choice in other places. Let's keep it that way.

Steal toe would imply there is no toe.

This job is precisely what retired running/gym shoes are for.

Exactly. I have a shoe progression cycle. Once the current gym shoes get worn out and replaced, the old ones are moved down the ladder to work/yard/mowing shoes and the old work/yard/mowing shoes are discarded. and so on and so forth

This is very, very Seinfeldian.

Don't get me wrong, I do the same thing because it makes perfect sense. Its just the way you worded it could easily be something Jerry says.

This has been my practice thus far. It's just that the small pieces of grass get in the shoe and dirty the sock. Especially if there is any type of moisture on the grass. It seems to me a croc would eliminate this, as it could be a quick rinse with water.

yeah that's a valid point
it does kind of ruin the socks to a degree, you can never get the dirt/grass out entirely

When I moved into my house this summer my mom tried talking me into a pair of Crocs and couldn't stop
blabbering about how convenient they are and how my dad liked his and how I can could just keep them
outside and put them on when I needed some shoes for outside. I told her I wasn't interested but she ordered
me some anyway. I tried them out and immediately didn't like them but figured I would leave them on the
back step and if I needed them I could get the mail or whatever. I ignored them for about a month and
then tried to put them on once and the sun had warped them and they didn't fit my feet anymore so I
threw them out.

As for cutting the grass and working in the yard I wear steel toes work boots. Call me paranoid but I'll be
damned if I am going to be maimed or injured in a yard work accident due to me wearing sandals or something.

I just wear flip-flops mowing the lawn, use a nice and wimpy push mower though.

I use the same 2 pairs of socks each time I do yardwork. They just keep getting greener so why ruin more of them.
