IMHO,when Sveum got the ax,the only coach mentioned as being retained was PC, Chris Bosio.
Why would Theo do that? Right now, Girardi's PC is Larry Rothschild. Theo doesn't want to bring back an old regime guy. So he sent Girardi a message before they talk contract.

If you wouldve called Rothschild a cracker, this couldve been a Beardown post.

This reminds me of the Bears. I think it's unprofessional to not let the next manager pick his own staff.

jimmy, If you would just call it a THEO-ry, you might be able to get a job as a Tribune columnist like Steve Rosenbloom.

The beloved won a Super Bowl doing it this way.

Theo has a better chance of getting Manny/Ortiz than getting Girardi.
Girardi's using the interest the Cubs have in him the same way Bob Brenly did--to extract more money out of the other team.

Girardi and his family are ensconced in Westchester County. No way he's going to uproot them for a crappy life in the shitty Chicago burbs.
He'd likely go the broadcaster route before he'd take the Cubs job.

How much nicer is Westchester than the north shore?

Even if they were equal as places to live/raise a family, his kids are 14, 11 and 7? I think they've only gone to school there in Westchester. Asking them to uproot, drop friends and such and move to Chicago is probably more than Girardi's wife will allow.

When did Theo get an endorsement deal with Giordano's:

People move their families all the time, especially professional sports coaches & managers. Home is always home. His Wife Kim also went to Northwestern.
