Hatchetman is another big one.

I liked that on the Score today, Spiegel was bitching to anyone who would listen -- including Stan Bowman! -- about it being too early to talk about hockey. "Here the Bears are playing and the Cubs just fired their manager and I have to learn who Joakim Nordstrom is?" Then this was followed by Bernstein bitching that hockey was already starting, which made Drinky jump in with "DAN DAN TALK ABOUT THE SAINTS DAN DAN DAN DAN."

And then that was followed by "hockey talk on the Score is brought to you by Bud Light! Here we go!"

Bitching about the existence of a full hockey season is brought to you by Bud Light! ON THE SCOOOORE

This isn't a good idea. The last thing hockey fans should aim for is to sound/act like baseball fans.

You'd prefer them to sound like drooling braindead football fans?

The Hawks' shitty penalty kill was awesome. Mikhail Grabovski is on my fantasy team!

Someone write a book about hockey metrics and make sure the candyman is the first to read it and then he will talk hockey.

I would love some more hockey talk. A day talking about the hawks, swaimer getting fired and the pack would be glorious.

I don't hate hockey. I hate the way the media treats it. Ignored for decades....shunned like the homeless guy with shit in his pants. Now its the greatest thing that "everybody" loves.

Boom, nailed it. Perfect example of elevating baseball to some nonexistent majestic sophisticated level of sport.

Hockey fans love playing the whiny "why don't you like our sport!" card which baseball is trying to do it's darndest to steal. I'm 100% behind this movement.

I'll take both over the NBA's "you're not sophisticated enough to like our sport" and the NFL's "JUST LIKE OUR SPORT."

Does that really happen?

Sure, there's some bad thoughts here, by the likes of Keeping Score or FavreFan, but they're all welcomed to the table of NBA fandom (Except WWN).

Curious Hair is referencing the annoying movement (not the best word) to be anti-meatball to the max. For reason a person just "doesn't get it" if they hate a team or player.

I don't get the anti-Hawks sentiment, or the general sports chauvinism from fans of one sport against fans of another, etc.

As for the Hawks, they absolutely should be talked about as the season gets underway, and I say this as someone who is indifferent to hockey. They're the only major pro sports team in the city, outside of the White Sox, that's done something of merit since 1998. And they've done it twice.

Post-MJ, Chicago's on the verge of becoming a sports wasteland, and so far it's only the Hawks that have managed to give the city's sports scene a faint pulse of life.

Except it does exist. It's why people wept when Mariano Rivera retired and no one is even sure if Ray Lewis is still playing or not. I know a guy who tried to draft him in a fantasy league this year.

They were just bored to tears.

Honestly, if some guy quitting is the highlight of the season then your sport has issues.

It appears I don't know how to do math. I'll edit the post.

Part of it is that being a Hawks fan is very trendy right now.

I couldn't care less about hockey. I don't watch it on my own, I don't follow it, and I couldn't care less if the Hawks win or lose.

Yeah, it's getting to be a real problem with the league.

At least the highlight of the baseball season isn't television commercials.

But it's true. Unless they win, who will really care to remember how the Bears were a decent team back in the early 2010s, or that they made the super bowl in 2006?

More people at baseball games are watching the M&M races than the game.

Really though, the true highlight of the year is either mullet night or bring your dog to the park night!

In a 99 loss season, this is true. This was not the case in 2012...at least for the White Sox.
