http://espn.go.com/espn/otl/story/_/id/9745797/new-book-league-denial-says-nfl-used-resources-power-two-decades-deny-football-link-brain-damage

(page includes a damnable auto-play video, because regular espn website visitors cannot read)

Does Dan cite ESPN? I guess he doesn't necessarily have to, as SI posted an excerpt of the book as well (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/nfl/news/20131002/league-of-denial-excerpt/?sct=hp_t11_a2&eref=sihp).

Anyway, surely this will take up thrice the time spent on discussing last night's Blackhawks game, which will excite the hate-hockey-dicks to a turgid stiffness. There will also be 10 minutes of hemming and hawing (but not David Haughing) about the MLB playoffs, such as they currently are.

Linda S. will likely not call in, under any name or gender.

One can hope that today's show has as much non-linear improv happy fun time as yesterday's show did. One can also hope that they start shitting Spanish Gold Doubloons. Neither are necessarilly likely to happen.

Shows since last Penn State mention: three. That's getting too high; set expectations accordingly.

I believe the audience gets to bask in Hub's radio warmth one-on-one, making Hall & Oates proud.

Surprises along the way; still no more Ritalin, Diddlin', nor Country Fiddlin'.

The question is will the show be dumber than this intro write-up. That's a "pick 'em" at this point.

Have a nice day, whatever that means to you.

At this point Terry, for all his faults, is what keeps me tuning in. Just as I'm about to PTFB because Bernstein is on one of his self serving rants, Terry will drop a gem like, "I'm on an Unga strike." That's the old B&B I love. Those moments aren't there as frequently as they used to be, but dammit if Terry can't make me lose my shit every once in awhile!

I loved the show yesterday, had me laughing all the way home. Still the best in town by a long shot and it's not close.

And before the horde arrives, I've tried W&S, it's just meh. They dont get me upset, they dont make me laugh and they dont really have any groundbreaking opinions. Why should I waste my time? I listen to the Cutler Show and that's because I'm a Cutler fan and he does no wrong in my eyes.

Professional athletes at the top of their game get it and understand the imagery of that trophy.

Regular fans should just shut up about this primitive, tribal worship. It's just a piece of metal!

I talk a lot about banners and parades and how this is a big-time city with big-time teams and how it means something.

Parades are stupid why would you even go?

heeeeeeeey buddy

"You could design a uniform for managers and market the hell out of it."

Um, those are called "jackets," Dan.

Terry Bevington should not be mentioned when talking fashion.

Dan and his unnamed nebulous "stat guys" are fucking dumb if they don't think 7 games are appropriate, especially in the era of an unbalanced schedule.

162 games.

Dan honestly thinks that the regular season team with the most wins should win the title.

I cant say I disagree that it's the best way to determine the best team, but this brings up the point that he should love the BCS

The team with the best record after 162 isn't the best team, necessarily, either. Cuz of the weighted division schedule where some divisions are weaker than others. Oakland's 96 wins is not the same as Boston's 96 wins. Oakland had 40 games against the Angels and the god awful Astros.

I suppose Bernstein would just suggest no NL or AL. Just 30 teams playing everybody the same amount of times. Best record wins it. If it's a tie, then you have a playoff.

...or have computers determine who the best team is.

Oh wait, that was the BCS.

Matt does a good job of telling Bernsie he doesn't thing his guys are worth shit. Dan knows nothing more about next Cubs manager than Terry's answering machine or Bob from Niles.

But even if you had it that way, it still wouldn't be the team with the best record is the best team. Some teams would run into baseball's top pitchers more than other teams just by the way the schedule and rotation falls.

Some teams would also face teams where their best players are hurt and others face them when they are completely healthy.

This is why computers should determine the champion. Play 1 million simulations between all teams and then have a parade for the team that wins it.

There was another one a couple of months ago where Spiegel yelled at Dan about what he thought was a bogus source and scoop. What was that one? I forget. Was Bernstein wrong on that one too?

I don't remember but I am sure Matt gets some of his stuff from Rozner who is a hell of a lot more connected than Bernsie.

I think it would be more accurate than the current formula

Think of it like business.

Would you take the top 8 businesses in an industry and say "Alright, you've all performed well over the year, but the record is clean, lets see who can make the most profit in a week"

But your point is valid

How do you simulate getting knocked up and not knowing who the dad is?
