One day we're sitting in our regular spots at the bar at Lucky Magee's. One of the other regulars comes up and asks Fritz if he can get him a couple tickets to a Hawks game. Fritzy looks at the guy and says, "Can I getcha Hawks tickets? I can get ya in the White House if ya wanna meet Obama." I believe him too.

I once met the mayor of Elmwood Park backstage at a Chicago Concert.

Did you meet Pete Schivarelli and did he give you a Notre Dame cap?

JORR,
Thanks for mentioning Pete Schivarelli. I didn't know who he was so I looked him up. He sounds like another "Rudy".

I just thought you had the wrong last name for the Mayor of EP.

Threads like this are why I immediately click on any thread where the last post is from the great Rodney of Chicago Heights fame.

Well there's at least one reason to hate him.

the disturbing trend of Marquette Inn closings continued with the one on Adams and Dearborn. The loop is almost devoid of places where a city worker can go and get a decent and inexpensive hot lunch

It's kind of quaint reading about the era when we thought the Japanese would own us. I remember that era watching that Michael Keaton movie Gung Ho and everyone wanting their kid to learn Japanese. There has always been in my lifetime some foreign horde that was going to own the US according to analysts.
