Depends on your definition of "real." You still got your people whose listening habits are the basis for ratings. Are these people representative of you, of me, of what we'd listen to? Probably not, no matter how hard (or not) they try.

PPM just eliminates the diary-keeping. And you know, I would have forgotten what I listened to all day, too. So why NOT write "WGN"? Or Dahl, or North? And rotate them, so no one would suspect...

But no matter the technology, its the sample pool that's the fiction. And it won't go away.

But the sample pools in many ways were wrong before, now they're being corrected. That was proven once PPM started being used, and we learned very quickly that nobody was actually listening to Dahl, North, Eddie & Jobo, and all the other dinosaurs that were on huge money deals last decade. I think it's pretty funny that all the old fucks that aren't working now are blaming PPM. If only we could go back to bad record keeping, so their jobs could be saved.

Wellllll.....during Mr Norths legal actions towards the board and it's admin (Just showing you he is really an asshole when it all comes down to it), I asked KS to change it. He didn't, I then took the liberty of making the negative. KS then got Mr Norths permission (I believed him) and I said we can change it back. He said, NO, he liked the new one.

What happened from that point, I have no idea.

wait.... what? forgive me, for there have been rather long gaps in my attentiveness to the board since i signed up in mid-2004, but i never heard that pappy took up legal action/s against the board/you.... what the fuck happened here?

was it basically something about him, to use a colloquialism of the epoch, being "butthurt" that people were talking about him in a largely-negative fashion during the end of his tenure @ the score and his adventures over @ chisports webio? i mean, what the hell could he charge you guys with? slander? libel? did he get before the congressional panel and claim that his good name has been besmirched?

if anything, you'd figure that the existence of a messageboard that talks about his product/brand/person, despite potentially/rampant negativity, would essentially be free promotion for the guy. if he wants to make an argument that google/searching for his name would trigger results that lead you here, where people are predominantly speaking negatively about his increasingly-shoddy endeavors, still..... isn't it just free publicity/promotion?

there's that timeless adage that there is no such thing as bad publicity.... and let's be honest and do something that, no doubt, mike has done countless times himself; let's call a spade a spade: if someone's google/searching for mike north, odds are that they're already some sort of a fan of his or likely aware of who he is and what he contributes to our wonderful society. i mean, does he think that some guy in bumblefuck nebraska who hears his sporadic shows on a foxsportsradio affiliate is going to go "hrmmm i wonder what this north guy is all about?" search on his name, find results that lead him to threads here where he's getting bashed for some dumbass shit he's done/said, and then turn around and go "you know, those guys on the messageboard are probably right.... i'd better not listen to this mike north clown because he's bad news?!?!"

if anything, all of the negative talk about him would make you WANT to go and check him out and find out what all the fuss/commotion is all about, right? it's like in the howard stern private parts movie when they give the stats to teh corporate board and they say that ppl who like howard listen for an average of 20 mins @ a time because "they wanna see what he does next" --- but the ppl who HATE howard listen for an average of 45 mins @ a time because "they wanna see what he does next" --- same phenomenon here.

forgive the relative longevity of my reply, biggie, as i know you're definitely one to remind me that brevity is the soul of wit.... but i'm just so damn incredulous over the concept that pappy done got up off of his pasty ass and sued you that i had to take a few mins and break it on down and spell it out that such action/s are just..... laughably bad and misguided and ultimately pointless, kind of like mike north's product/brand/person 12 years into this 21st century!

Whoooooooa Nellie.....I never went on the air with him to apologize, never apologized to him, actually told him to go ahead and sue me, but to leave the others alone since they had less resources. I actually never sent a letter to his sponsors, I just offered up free legal service from my ex if in fact the jagbag sued the others.

The only conversation I had with him was at a local bar about 5 months later and he just laughed it off because as always he didnt have a leg to stand on. The guy is a grade A asshole, I have more then enough ammo to prove that, but he is old news.

I have always said that all the "favors he did" all came with the caveat, you have to now take Mike's side in all fights! He proved that true even during the 5 mins Mac let him come on the air and blab about some producers Baby Formula,,, still wondering who that is.

Yea, he did and on his web page, I asked him to supply me or my lawyer with one email or letter with my name on it, never heard back and he took my name down, but he was pissed I was standing with the two other guys. Your right, he wont a lottery ticket and he said it wouldnt change him, it sure as hell did, 100% worse then anyone though it would.

Pappy will go to his grave still thinking he is the best sports radio personality in Chicago history.
