6 months... MONTHS of saved passwords gone! I use a password vault (keepass) to store my passwords, and I keep the password container files on dropbox so just in case i ever lose them they will be backed up online.

well, apparently when i last reformatted my pc, i shoved the password containers onto my other partition. From then on, I was just pointing keepass to that partition and forgot that dropbox was no longer backing up those files (default dropbox stores to C:/ drive.)

yesterday, i cleaned that partition. Including the old dropbox folder that had my password containers. Oh fuck, i thought, knowing that i hadnt enabled dropbox on that folder since i last formatted. Which turned out to be 6 months ago. Luckily i hadnt changed my password to keepass in 6 months, so at least i only lost about 1/4 of my passwords... but nearly 100% of them were for sites i have been using regularly.

all the sites ive been using to start my business are gone. theres probably 40 or so i will have to use password retrieval on, and hopefully get back in. fuck just shoot me like a chipmunk.

keepass is just like lastpass. it doesnt work if you dont backup your stuff properly
