I haven't played golf in almost three weeks. I'm getting a rash.

There is an outside chance I'll play Sunday morning but it will be pretty crisp out and not too sure the
girlfriend will be thrilled with that choice since she is in town for the whole day. Gotta make sure my
priorities are straight though..... she'd get over it eventually.

at 8:40 you might be OK, shakers. The forecasts I'm seeing have the storms starting to roll in about 2 or 3 oclock. Our 12 thru 12:36 tee times for the bachelor party are probably fucked, at least for the back 9.

yea the afternoon is not looking good. The morning looks like a 30% chance of isolated t-storms.

That sucks that it might fuck up your party, where you guys playing?

Gleneagles. They were the only course in the area that would allow my best men to reserve 4-5 tee times in a row without paying for them all up front, as long as the times were after 10am.

Didn't play very well for my bachelor party on Sat. Got in 15 holes before the rains came. Went out afterwards and played about 6 more, but I was just tired at that point and probably should have just called it quits when the delay started. Had a few good holes in the middle, but started poorly and ended poorly. 48 on the front 9 and was probably on pace for a similar score on the back. Did have 3 pars in 4 holes so that was pretty good.

Was kind of frustrated at the start with people showing up late, and then on the 14th hold got stung in the lip by a bee that had crawled into my beer can at some point. Fucker.

All in all though it was a great time. Had 4 groups of friends and family, everybody got along, Gleneagles was more than accommodating for us in the clubhouse, restaurant, and on the course. The party at night was pretty fun too :)

Got out twice over the weekend.

Played Cog Hill #2 Ravines Saturday. Learned a valuable lesson. I can't play hockey the night before golf and then sleep 4 hours and get up and expect to play well. 44-46-90 and I didn't even play as "good" as that score would indicate. 53% off the tee and only 1 3 putt saved me from a really bad number. Literally did not hit a single good iron shot all day until a 9 iron approach on #18. Back was really stiff and couldn't strike the ball clean, 8 fat iron shots throughout the round.

Next day I took my fiancee to play a waterlogged Seven Bridges. Fairways were completely saturated, most bunkers unplayable. Given my propensity to hit fat shots this was the worst possible course conditions. But, played much better than the day before. 42-46-88 on a day where I played better than the score. Had lots of trouble with short irons on the wet fairways and I lost my way off the tee the last 7 holes, finished with 43% fairways and 28% GIR. But, putted great, only 1 3 putt all day. And with a slope of 139 that's one of the tougher courses I played all year. The back nine is ridiculous, water on every shot just about.

Overall, very happy with only 2 3putts all weekend.

Big scramble Saturday with Tbone coming up, gonna skip both my hockey games friday night and get some rest so my back is hopefully good to go.

I didn't get out last weekend so I need to maybe get out after work this week and at the very least head over to
Shepherds to putt one night.

Weather looks good all week, I'm gonna try and get a round in or at least some practice time.

After playing on those waterlogged fairways I gained even more respect for what the pros did this weekend in Ohio in those conditions. Amazing how well they can strike the ball on those soaked fairways. If I even missed by a hair fat I lost at least 30% of the distance. It was especially tough on my full wedge shots.

Yup, it is one way to show how good the pros really are. My toughest shot are bunker shots between 50yds
and 180 yds. they make those look so easy.

Decided to just go ahead and buy that new 1-iron and get it before the last two tourmaments of the
year. Really no point in waiting since I am definitely getting it no matter what. Should be here by
tomorrow.

I have a hybrid that I can't hit. I had an old Adam's Tight Lies, but after I bad shot I hit the club on the ground and snapped it. So I want to get another one of those because I was able to hit that thing pretty good, and I had confidence in it. Suggestions anyone?

I've never had a hybrid but from what I have been told Adams makes some of the best. That is what my
new one iron is. I bought it solely on reputation so I hope it works out. Sucks that you broke it. I haven't
done that in a long time. Also, assuming you didn't throw the club away you could just get it reshafted which
would probably be the cheapest option.

Adams Golf makes the best hybrids, period. Have for a long time, probably always will.

In other news, got invited to play Dubsdread next week, possibly with Jemsek. Should be fun. Have never played it.

Enjoy Dubs. I haven't played it in many years but don't remember scoring too well out there. I am
assuming you would be playing with Frank? I've met him before at Pine Meadow.

Oh ok. Don't think I know Joe. Sounds like fun. The more I thought about this I wasn't sure if you were
pulling my leg since obviously the original Joe is now dead. I met him a bunch of times when he was hanging
around Pine, but I was pretty sure he had a grandson or something named Joe.

eBay:

Adams A7 w/ real-deal UST Axivcore Black shaft.

Nickent 3DX w/V2 or Aldila NV shaft.

Both are great hybrids and can be found for cheap. Nickent made some GREAT gear but never caught on w/ the general golf public.

Nickent is a Dick's house brand now, but the 7DX is still a really solid club. Probably less than $60 new.

45-46-91 at White Deer Run today. Just to give you an idea of how much my game has gone to shit I didn't have a single penalty stroke today and I hit 10/14 fairways off the tee. With those kind of stats you should be breaking 80 or at worst be in the very low 80s, but I was lucky to shoot low 90s. Just can't hit the ball at all anywhere except off the tee. Tomorrow should be fun :(

Played in the Chili Open scramble at Shepherds Crook yesterday with Shakes. Was a major concern about the weather
but we only got poured on for a couple of holes. Other than that we really couldnt have asked for a nicer day. The
course was in beautiful shape. Greens were running really quick and they put the pins in some ridiculously difficult spots.
We ended up shooting -12 which gave us 5th place. Behind a -16 and 3 -13's. We managed to win one of three skins with
an eagle on a difficult par 5 that netted each guy just over 50 bucks. That, including a free pass to play 18 by next July
and it was a pretty successful haul. All you can eat chili during and after the golf as well was pretty good. Shakes was
a big help on a number of holes. Hit a number of fairways, hit some solid wedges and made a number of clutch putts.
It is hard to get in some of the longer shots when the other guys in the group hit it longer. I struggled off the tee like I
hadn't all season. Luckily my buddy helped me fix it by the last 6 holes and was able to put a couple out there. I am
pretty sure we used more of Shakes shots than mine. I thought the highlight of the day was the last hole. We had just
been poured on and we had a tough par 3 to play. I was able to get the ball on the green about 20 feet away but we
had to putt through some standing water. Shakes lines up and says, " well this is just a guess" and gives the putt a
solid stroke. It half rolled and hydroplaned right into the center of the cup. Was a great way to finish the round. It
is a solid tournament but one thing I didn't like was that they gave prizes for 1st through 4th, 10th, 13th and 23rd place,
leaving us out of a decent gift card. Oh well.

101 Saturday morning at Broken Arrow. Played the North then East course. Very nice, especially the north. Scenic, pretty good condition, just a ton of bad golf shots with the irons. Driver was pretty good, chipping was pretty good, irons and putting not so much, Was pretty brutal.

Went out after that round to George Dunne and shot 88. Much better. Didn't do a ton great with the irons, but didn't get myself is nearly as much trouble as the morning. Putted a little bit better, and hit the hell out of my driver. Put one drive OB and only missed 2 other fairways, both just slightly off in the first cut so nothing wrong with that at all. Left a few strokes out there, but was way better than the morning and last weekend. Hoping to get out maybe a couple more times and score in the mid 80s once more before the weather really turns cold.

91 yesterday. Greens were being airified but I should have shot a lot better. 2 3 putts on the par 3's. Started to top my 3 hybrid after killing it the whole round. Very odd. Didn't feel comfortable swinging.

yea that was a great time. After all the casual golf I play it was a great change of pace to play in a competitive team environment. Never played with guys that good before, it was a pleasure. Seeing drives routinely go well over 300 yards never got old despite my ball in the middle of the fairway getting passed up by 80-100 yards. Being the least skilled in the group it felt great to contribute the shots I did. Wish I chipped better and putted better earlier in the round, seemed to get going in those departments later on. But, I sunk 3 birdie putts and can't complain about that. Too bad we got left out in the prize dept, but after winning that skin and the free round of golf coupon everyone received it worked out to us spending about $10 for 2 rounds of golf at a great course. hard to beat that!

Got out yesterday and played Lost Marsh which I contend is the toughest course I've played in the area. The opening 5 holes are the toughest stretch of holes I've ever seen. Went par-par-double-double-double to start and wasn't unhappy. Finished with a 45-42-87. Very happy with that since I've now played that course 3x this season and my scores went from 93-89-87. Was in a tight match with my friend who I give a stroke to on all 4s and 5s, I was up 1 with 6 to play. Finished up the final 6 holes 2 over to crush his dreams. Highlight was on #13, par 5 he duffed his first two shots and was 200 yards out to a blind green that is down in a ravine, 50 yards below the fairway. He hit his 3 wood and when we got up there we saw it was 10 feet from the hole. I had laid up with my second and was 105 out. Took out a gap wedge and stuck it to 2 feet. Hit my birdie putt to steal the hole.

Started out the wedding weekend by going to the Hawks game tomorrow, but the highlight is tomorrow morning at 9:20 when I tee it up at Cog Hill Dubsdread. Gonna be a little chilly, but looking forward to taking on that beast. Rehearsal and rehearsal dinner to follow. I'm getting roasted at the rehearsal dinner and apparently there is already a line out the door of people waiting to take a shot at me.

Played Dubsdread for the first time on Monday. It was not only the hardest course I've ever played in my life (75 rating, 144 slope from gold tees -- not even the tips!), but it was also the best golf experience I've had. Wanted to play that course since childhood and it was easy to picture what the PGA guys see when they play the course.

Have a great time shakes, but definitely bring your sand wedge.

46-46-92 at Dubs from the blue tees (6750 yards). hate posting that score cause I actually played A LOT better than that considering the conditions. It was 45 degrees and felt like 38 with the wind chill. Course was wet and the rough was thick so any ball in there was ridiculously hard to advance. Sand traps were soaked which I had trouble with as well. Greens had been punched a couple weeks earlier which was a major letdown cause they were much slower than usual and obviously bumpy with all the holes in them.

Started the day with a double-birdie-double-triple as I struggled to get acclimated with the conditions. Settled down after that and finished the final 5 holes on the front at 4 over. Started out the back playing great, played the first 6 holes at 3 over. Then on 16 it all fell apart. Easy tee shot where I could've cut the corner on a going left dogleg, instead I put it out there straight and went through the fairway and into a trap. Had to wedge out of there because of the lip and found myself about 100 out in the rough. Took the wrong club and left it short in a trap. Took 3 to get out of the trap and ended up with a quadruple bogey. Bogeyed 17 and 18 to wrap up the day.

So taking into account the rough start and the awful conditions I really think I hit the ball overall well enough to score in the mid 80s if the weather was nicer and the greens were better.

Will definitely be going back next summer to see how I do in better conditions.

Received my new sticks for 2014 in the mail yesterday, the Nike VR Forged Pro Combo irons. Just in time for the snow. Hit retail stores on November 1st.
