With the Cubs you need to be clear. Remember spineless Ricketts had fired Hendry but kept him on for a month to handle the trade deadline and sign draft picks.

I wasn't sure about trying to get Girardi at first but now I like it. He has the tactical and cerebral aspect/former catcher and he also commands a tremendous amount of respect. I have 100 percent confidence that he would take the job to do the job and not just to cash a check.

I realize he is no superstar but he did a fine all-around job for the Cubs. I think they locked him up because they will try to deal Nate Sheirholtz for something. Between Sweeney & Bosovic,they have enough LH OF bats.
