Moving on......Stay the fuck away from Hinch and Acta.

Alomar jr would be good. I can see that working. His brother will enjoy boys town when he visits him.

I'm partial to Acta... but I don't get the hate. The guy had bad players. That's why his records were so bad. As they say, he "checks a lot of boxes" I assume the Cubs are looking for.

Paul Sullivan found a bunch of toothpicks in the garbage behind Wrigley Field, so he thinks that Dusty Baker should be brought back.

Latin guy to work with all the prospects, and SABR-friendly. There's always a lot of hand-wringing over who the field manager is, but it really doesn't make a huge difference.

He's probably my favorite of the names that have been brandied about.

I am around quite a few Cleveland fans and they hated him. No fire and passion!!! The players didn't have much respect for him and they weren't exactly seasoned vets that were big leaguing him. I don't want a latino quade.

It'll look bad to give it to a guy who has been heralded as the Next Big Thing twice and failed miserably twice. I'd rather they just give it to Ausmus.

I can understand an over 162 argument. But the WS is the goal and I want the next Cubs manager to not be a pud like Baker or Matheny in the playoffs. (Not trying to be a rivalry dick. I just don't get a lot of what Matheny has done against Pirates).

I'd rather they pick the guy they think will be the best, instead of worrying about what will look bad. Hiring the wrong person will look bad.

So does JedTheo get a 3rd manager if the next one happens to fail?

Not poking fun, just asking. Say they bring in Ausmus and he is terrible. Is it 3 strikes and you're one two me out to the ballgame?

Game bullpen management in the micro- single game is probably Matheny's weakest managerial attribute.

However, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt in the macro, as he has gotten a shit ton of rookies and young pitchers to perform in the heat of a pennant race over the haul of a season. I'm sure his catching background influences some of his decisions which aren't readily apparent to the fan watching a game here or there.

No idea about that last sentence, but my guess is there is nothing that will happen that will get JedTheo fired before the end of their contract.

Shouldn't they be looking for someone who fits The Cub Way? I don't mean this facetiously. You have an organizational plan that presumably includes the use of advanced metrics. You would be failing your organization if you did not hire someone who is in lockstep with The Way.

Girardi did not seem to be a guy who would be interested in bending his views for those of a GM.

Still, this was a ham handed way of doing business. Really, has there been anything that has gone smoothly from a management perspective since Ricketts took control of the team?

Depends.

If it's 2-3 years down the road, and the best everyday player on the team has a .775OPS like this year, then no, they shouldn't get a 3rd manager. If it's a scenario where it's 95-100 win teams that keep failing come playoffs, that's a diff scenario.

Yea, that was definitely a curious case with Joe. I know when they interviewed Acta, it was largely based on his philosophies around the game. They certainly want the "Cub Way" to be aligned with the new manager.

Wrong. 18 people died from bison related e.coli. You didnt hear about it because they spun it as alcohol poisioning bleacher deaths.

Not impressed with Girardi hiding behind the kids on this one.

So you asked a 7,11 and 13 year old if they want to stay in NYc with their Daddy being manager of the Yankees or move? Guess what, I know the answer before the question is asked as well.

when you ask that group if they want McD's or Capital Grill for dinner, can you guess the answer? I think so.

How about a 'It just wasnt the right time'. No need to ask the 7 year old.
