With regards to the Bears -vs- Giants game...

Jay had another great game. He was really really sharp tonight. He missed the read on a few defenses though & should have changed the play. Overall Jay looked great.

Forte isn't the fastest RB but is deceptively quick & slippery running wide & I want to see more of it.

The Bears offense must be able to score more than 1 TD against the worst defense in the NFL.

Tresty should have kicked the FG in the 1st Q on 4th & goal.

Poor clock management to end the 1st half. Gotta clean that up.

The defense is worse than I expected. Injuries have really hurt & the Bears are shaky at just about every position on defense other than LB. I'm not sure that Briggs has figured how to lead & call the defense yet.

The Bears defensive line is absolute horseshit. Worst I have seen in many years. The Giants have a horrible OL & yet the Bears still couldn't get any pressure on Eli. I have plenty of room left on the "Julius Peppers sucks" bandwagon, & I'm guessing that unless you are blind or one of Peppers parents, you now agree with me. Once again he didn't record a single stat. Not one. Zip. Zilch. He was easily handled by his opponent. If Pep doesn't beat his opponent with his first move, which he cant do anymore, he is easily pushed out of the play. Carolina new exactly what they were doing when they let Pep go.

Shea Mac has no business playing DL in the NFL. The only chance he has at being a successful NFL player is at the LB position, & the Bears should move him there immediately.

I haven't looked up Mel Tuckers credentials, but if this continues, he might be one & done.

Bears should have hired Greg Willams as DC.

There will be a lot of personnel turnover on defense next year.

Overall I am pleased with where the Bears are in year one with a new coaching staff & system & we are 4-3 & in first place with a schedule that now looks extremely easy going forward.
The Bears now have 10 days off to get healthy & prepare for a bad Redskins team.

BEARSSS!!!

Did Jay actually have a great game if he directed the offense to only 20 points against the Giants D at home? Isn't that kind of underwhelming? When you say Forte is deceptively fast you're saying he's slow. His stats kind of prove that with 67 yards with 19 carries against a run defense in the bottom top-10 in the NFL.

Forte never looks like a burner, yet he always gains good yardage when he runs outside.
He is 2nd in the NFL in both rushing yards & all purpose yards.

Not at all. Seemed like the Bears dominated the entire game.

Don't know if I'd go that far. Eli's three picks were the difference. If he doesn't have that last one with time running out, the Giants may have won.

If I were a defensive coach scheming for the Bears my plan of attack would be to give up 9 yards on first down, because they would never convert on second/third and one.

Yes. The Bears were clearly the better team. The Giants were on the way to winning before Eli did what Eli does.

Eli is worse than the Giants are as a team. If he wasn't a complete shitshow out there you have a ball game. If he was a remotely capable qb on that last drive they score a td....though I think the bears come back with a fg for the game winner.

I have absolutely no will power so I watched the game last night.

This team is horseshit from top to bottom. If that pick didn't happen in the 4th to end the game, the Giants WOULD HAVE scored and earned their first "W". The defense is as useful as a bag of dicks and cannot defend the run, period. Peppers is invisible, Shea Mac is a piece of shit and the line is dreadful. Chris Conte and Major Wright can both die in a fire.

Marc Trestman is not impressive. The Bears should have scored at least 2 more TD's but they couldn't manufacture a fucking drive from the 40. Meanwhile Goober Jr. is just carving up the Bears D for drives of 80 and 91 yds. Matt Forte is slow and couldn't find a hole to cutback to if you had a neon sign pointing to it. Two pitch plays he had the blocking to cut it back but just plowed ahead into a Giants Defender for no gain or 1-2 yds.

Yay Jerkface played well again! Big fucking deal. He's playing the Giants fer crissake and he airmailed Alshon for a sure TD. The only redeeming quality is that he is not forcing throws and is looking more like a veteran when there is no play. BMarsh should be happy for a while and I applaud his advocacy of bringing awareness to mental health issues, unlike our sack of feces Congress.

Mel Tucker is a bag of hot garbage and should be fired after this season. You can't stop the 0-5 Giants from converting 3 and 15's? Go eat a shotgun barrel.

I am goddamn sick and tired of waiting for this franchise to become an elite one. Trestman will just be another stopgap before another dumbfuck gets brought in here because ol Ginny likes him.

IDK, Eli is average as he is so up and down. That escape and toss the the back when he should have been sacked on 1 or safety was outstanding.

But for the grace of god, the Bears could be 0-6 right now. This is a team just ripe to stumble to a division win and get absolutely crushed in the playoffs. I didnt like anything about that game, 3pts in the second half is not going to get it done.

I can't blame Mel Tucker for this. He is coaching a team with maybe one viable D linemen in Wooten,MLB seems to be invisible, coverage issues from both safeties. He might have to blitz more.
NFL QB's can't be given 5-8 seconds to look around the field at their leisure. Scare them, knock them down, pressure them.

What do you want from the Packers for Shea? They could actually use him as an olb and he probably wouldn't be bad at all.

You are getting CJ Wilson and you will like it and he will probably start for you.

We are talking about the former East Carolina Purple Pirate that will be a future bear....not the future cub that allows freeloader princess spiegal to drive around in a free car from his dealership.

The Cincinnati win looks better in hindsight, but their other three wins are against teams with a combined 1-13 record.

The Bears problem is they have been run by a bunch of fucking brain-dead boobs who hire people with character. I want a bunch of cutthroat venture capitalists, a major corporation, or a giant conglomeration to buy this franchise and spend the money needed to build a perrenial SB contender. I want a coach that's an asshole but wins consistently, I want a QB that's great and a defense that will kill the opponent and their families.

I'm sick of all the Norman fucking Rockwell bullshit. Sell the franchise Virginia, make your windfall then leave this earth and reunite with Papa Bear. I'm tired of investing my time and money in this hokey fucking fairy tale.

Maybe the Bears should tank for a couple of seasons with the intention of getting REALLY GOOD players instead of free agents that soon turn into bad players, a la Orange Julius. This winning one SB in my lifetime is ridiculous for a major market team not to mention a charter fucking franchise. This shit is expected from teams like Jacksonville, Tennessee, etc.

You really should just try to enjoy sports more. Calm down...put the knife down...take a step back from the ledge. It's sports. Sports are fun. Enjoy.

I have been actually enjoying my Friday and am writing all this with a smirk so I'm not that crazed. Just wanted to vent and be butthurty/meatbally today. I do love my Bears but I'm just a bit tired of the same old same old.

Does Mel Tucker get a pass this year due to personnel issues? He can be expected to adjust, but it seems he's identified the lack of pass rush problem by sending more blitzes to generate pressure. After that, what else can he do? He can't make Peppers any younger, or McClellin any stronger...what else is there to do?

I did not think DJ Williams looked that injured last night but now I see he might be out for the season with a torn pec.

Ginny won't sell.

You knew some of this was coming. It will be alright. I have lost some interest over the past few years. I hope it doesn't happen to you.

Love me some Orange Julius, No peppers. They sell em at DQ now, which is freaking awesome.

So do they have "Good Eli/Bad Eli" conversations in NY/NJ?

Been in the NYC area the last week, with another week to go :pukel:

Been listening to The Fan on and off. You get the usual meatball callers, except they are a LOT more meatbally in NYC. There's been a lot of dump Eli/Coughlin/Reese calls. To their credit for the most part, the hosts allow them to rant a bit, but then rein 'em back in with some logic. The only real dumbshit thing said by a host was on Friday mid-day, where one of the hosts on the show before Francesa's show referred to Eli as a HOF QB by virtue of his team having won two SBs during his tenure  .

I've never really listened to Francesa before. He's like an older, more calm and less-assholey version of Bernstein, but DAMN, he interrupts CONSTANTLY. Make his show unlistenable.
