you're young, you still have time to marry the wrong woman, have her shit out a few kids, buy a house, furniture, couple of cars and then lose it all in a divorce and have to pay rent for a studio apt and a mortgage on a house occupied not by you but by your ex-wife, her new guy of the month, your kids and maybe a couple of her relatives.

Is that word for word from Carolla? Or just a tribute?

I may have Mencia'd it.

9 months minimum but most likely much longer.

I'd start by calling the bank and explaining your situation. You might be able to work something out.

does the contract say "I agree to pay the monthly mortgage or the house will be repossesed" or does it say "If I don't pay the monthly mortgage I am an evil sinner?"

Well I purchased my home directly from Lucifer. I cant even read my closing papers, it's all in Latin and written in my own blood.

exactly. that old theory that it takes 7 years to restore broken credit is completely false. it only takes 3 years to qualify to buy a home again, and only about 1 year to shoot your credit score up to the skies if you have money in the bank.

corporations do it all the time. just live in the house until they kick you out. save the money you dont pay into the mortgage in CASH. file for bankruptcy when they kick you out and you still have the $10-$20k in cash you saved by not paying the bills. use that money while in bankruptcy to continue your lavish lifestyle. after about 2 or 3 years, everything will be just like it was before you bought that stupid house.

the best achievement in my life up to this point is not having kids!!! i figured i have saved about $75k, and of course a lot more in the long run!

Sort of a serious question. With so many foreclosure and everything, how long would it take for the mortgage company to kick you out of your house if you just stopped paying? People with lousy credit & who are upside down on their mortgage are doing this intentionally. You can find hundreds of stories on line. I read about a family in Florida with both parents employed & earning $100K +, & they decided to stop paying their mortgage & bank the $3K per Month. Apparently the foreclosure laws in Florida favor the homeowner & people can remain in their house for up to 3 years. This may have changed as this story is a few years old.

That is sort of my thought. I'm not in financial hardship but paying a mortgage when you are so far underwater is just fucking irritating. I'd much rather just be a squatter for a couple of years.

I've basically broken even on the two places i've owned (own)...pay mortgage on. I feel sorry for those that bought in 2006/2007 or earlier (myself included) But, that's the game.

The couple we sold the E.P. house to were first time buyers, paying PMI. I'm sure the house is worth what I paid for it in 2001.

Basically, if you can the mortgage, you're going to be there for a while (myself included).

I figure two more years before I'll be slightly ahead...in order to buy up and be more in debt. :)

My buddy skipped town on his wife and kid to "go live with his Dad in Florida before he died." I should add that his wife cheated on him and he would polish off 3/4 of a case of IceHouse daily....
Anywho...They hadn't been paying the mortage for months prior. I believe it took over two years before they had to finally leave.

Why do you need credit when you're socking away thousands a month and already have a place to live?

I dealt with it for years (professionaly) Make them physically remove you. They still don't know who owns what. If you have kids, cover their eyes when the bank gets serious.

This isn't a blanket statement or anything.

How you manage to dress yourself or set an alarm or wipe your ass is absolutely amazing to me. You are, without question, one of the dumbest motherfuckers I've ever encountered virtually or in person. There is no critical thinking, no perspective, and no intelligence whatsoever in a single thought that crosses your very narrow mind. If you actually hold a job that pays well, it is a discredit not only to the company you work for but to the entire American economy. You are a case study on how ignorance, no matter how fucking stupid, can actually scrape by on a living that manages to feed you and the alien children you never should have conceived. Go fuck yourself and eat my balls.

The problem was started by the mortgage lenders who were giving money to home owners at a rapid rate. That's not a good idea when America is closing down shop. Folks who were making 80-100 grand a year suddenly found themselves wearing the "blue vest". Families went belly up and all that borrowed money doesn't get paid back. Banks were hurting because of their limited vision.
