Well, no, it's not Bernstein saying it. He's just repeating what psychologists and/or sociologists have said.

It's not an excuse for the behavior. Just cuz you have this make up, doesn't mean you don't have the ability to resist it knowing that you are leaving a child fatherless. AP and his kind are still deplorable people.

No sober sociologist would even think of taking up a line of thinking that's consistent with any sort of biological determinism.
