This show will consist of calling Cardinals fans racist, uncultured and ignorant. Much like fans of the team on the South side, or those who sit in the bleachers on the North side.

Rose looked good, but who cares? Lebron will shut him down next April, so why even bother.

Bears defensive woes will continue this Sunday. I'm sure meatball voice will be employed early and often.

WYC full of Danny reading emails from his sycophants.

Days like this are why Pandora exists.

Dan is your typical Chicago "inferior" man who has to lash out at every city in the Midwest because it is not Chicago and thinks Chicago is on par with L.A. and New York, which it is a far cry and people there don't even give a thought about Chicago because they have no inferior complex.

99% of Chicagoans have no inferior complex and Chicago is a great city, just the likes of Bernstein, etc who feel the need to lash out.

I don't think it's a Chicago/St.Louis thing with him. He shits on everyone that is doing good or having fun, UNLESS doing the opposite will piss off his most reviled group - Chicago sports fans. I get a sense that Dan would love nothing more than to shit down the throats of every Chicagoan and do it while mocking them with that Chicago meatball impersonation. He hates everyone equally.

As a New Yorker, St. Louis sucks. As a Chicagoan, St. Louis sucks.

Boilermaker nicely put and agreed! But Dan has such an inferiority complex about Chicago always talking about "big city media," and always calls it world class, etc. I have lived in New York for 10 years, outside of tall buildings, there is nothing similar to New York. It is simply 3 times the size of Chicago and one of 3 mega cities in the world. Chicago is a big Midwestern town, which I love and love the sports teams and glad to be back home. Sorry, back on subject.

What got me going is calling Cardinal fans racist. When losing an argument or feeling inferior that card is always used.

I do admit to liking him bash the meatballs for I have season tickets to the Bears game and nothing shows your manhood like getting in a fight at a Bears home game with another grown man wearing an opposing teams jersey.

Agree. I prefer one show his manhood by hanging up or shouting down callers who have no way to fight back, summarily dismissing their thoughts and calling them <insert sport> retarded.

I got a Hub Arkush-level chuckle out of Dan talking about how sports radio hosting is about more than just picking something that you know people enjoy and criticizing it just to get phone calls.

I've had people who visited Chicago for the first time talk about how it reminded them of a cleaner but smaller New York.

I agree that New York is at another level though. Chicago lacks something like the Brooklyn Bridge, or the Statue of Liberty.

Ironically, most of the people I know are ready to leave too.

I happened to be in my car when he was talking about that and nearly drove off the road.

I have never equated NY and Chicago. The sheer scale of NY is a huge difference. Manhattan is extremly unqiue- large, alive, packed with businesses and neighborhoods, Central Park, a noticeable lack of chain restaurants, food carts everywhere, narrow roads, bustling sidewalks, crazy traffic and always noisy. The five burroughs have no equal in Chicago. It seems like every bar has an Irish accented bartender. i could go on much longer.

New Yorkers talk down about Chicago, like yeah it's cute in a younger sibling type of way. Also many have never even been to Chicago.

I follow Blind Chaffeur on Twitter and apparently he wasn't pleased that his crap could not get played because he wanted to use the term "Zebra Queef". I honestly had to google what queef meant, and I only wish that I didn't do it from my work computer.

The "Jeter baby" stuff between Terry and Dan was classic. Good recap at the top of the 4 o'clock hour, then a nice round two of "what does that have to do with anything?" Loved it.

Chicago is a world class city in just about any way you would define the phrase (business, arts, advanced education, culinary, technology, really the one area Chicago is lacking is fashion ). New York is bigger and much more well known. I don't see how that detracts from Chicago.

Walk around downtown in spring, summer and fall. There are a lot of international tourists. Alternatively, go to another country and the average person on the street will recognize the name Chicago.

Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens stand on their own.

Staten Island and the Bronx live off the reputation of the others.

Also, Times Square is probably the worst part of Manhattan.

Chicago also lacks in must visit attractions. When you tell someone they should visit New York, or London, or Paris you can name at least 3 or 4 must visit iconic attractions. It's harder to do for Chicago. That was probably the biggest failing of the planning of Chicago though they seem to be doing a good job of trying to make up for it.

As I said, most people I know out here talk very highly of Chicago after a visit. In many ways, Chicago is superior to New York. There are ways it falls short though, but outside of a few cities in the whole world every city does.

That what kind of my point. New York, London and Paris are like mega star cities of the world with only a few other cities like Rome and Hong Kong in that group. It doesn't detract from Chicago that it is not New York.

I agree that there is nothing here that is a must see for the average schmuck. There is no Coliseum or Arc d'Triumph that every minimally educated person around the world knows about. It is no coincidence that Chicago is comparatively young to almost any other big city in the world. There are no "George Washington slept here" sites because there was no Chicago.

Still, if you are in the know, there are plenty of "first" type sites in the city. Pullman is remarkably well preserved company town. The atom bomb site is unfortunately understated on U of C. Chicago has purposely hidden its labor heritage in Haymarket.

New York also gets the benefit of "It's New York so of course it is better". See pizza, Madison Square Garden, and hot dogs.

At least we have Wrigley Field to enjoy.

I grew up in Chicago, lived in New York for 10 years and now back in Chicago. 99% of people in Chicago could care less about it being "world class" or seen as envious by others. Dan makes up that 1%, always boasting how this is a world class city, a big time market, etc. And yes it is, but you don't have to repeatedly say it or you come off as insecure, which Dan obviously is.

New York is the capital city of our country and one of the great cities of the world. Chicago and every other city in the U.S. simply cannot compare. Does that make them insignificant? Of course not. I loved my time in New York, but you pay a hefty price living there and once the novelty wears off, you do miss home.
I love the Midwest, being back home, and being able to have a great quality of life(outside of the winters). Would love to see the Cubs plan work. That is what irritates me the most, very concerned. I hate the Cardinals and its fans, but face it they are the Yankees of now, are young and only going to get better.
The venom of Dan and Terry towards this just shows their insecurity and knowing that Chicago baseball as a whole flat out sucks right now.

Actually, Dan goes on a lot about how Chicago is nothing compared to New York.

He's said that Chicago pizza is a fraud and New York pizza is the only true pizza, and then there was that Susannah Collins interview where he had to demonstrate his familiarity with every nook and cranny of bourgeois Brooklyn.

Well that one Deadspin writer just said Chicago pizza was the best regional foodstuff so nyah-nyah-nyah.
