* Laugh at the fact "meatball" callers will say McCown played good?

* People who want the Bears to find someone on waivers for the Defense

* The fact the Bears will not win a game again

* Just general giggling.

About Doug and OB continually talking about how the Bears are a better team, despite recent evidence to the contrary.

I'm listening now. Basically saying the Defense is terrible.

Isn't it weird that after every Bears loss, Mr. Anti-Meatball writes a column about how inscrutable and unpredictable the NFL is? Isn't that a bizarre coincidence?

*sigh* You didn't watch the game with me Dan.

Though I (and I assume many others) agree with his take on Brandon Meriweather. Dude concussed himself giving Eddie Lacy a concussion. Assbag. Though his name could make for a potentially delightful Before & After if Wheel of Fortune were ever to hire a Pitchfork writer to create their puzzles.

Oh, and Alfred Adler maintained that in order to properly address feelings of inferiority you had to have a strong running game and commit to D, so there.

yeah, it seems uber-douchebag out of context, but give lil dude some credit for trying to liven up the usual Bear's loss post-mortem column with his own style of weirdness.

Freud believed that the dreams of adults were the attempts of the subconscious at wish-fulfillment, with the altered consciousness of sleep giving repressed thoughts the chance to reach the mind, but disguised by resistances that hid their nature. These powerful, veiled desires were inscrutable, but very real.

When it comes to the Bears, it looks like we have to be careful what we wish for.

There's an NHL writer, Dave Lozo, I think he writes for Rogers Sportsnet now but used to be at nhl.com. He's mostly pretty bad, but has his moments, especially when reflecting on the p.r. tripe he had to churn out for the main site. One of these was when the NHL did this ill-advised and ill-fated collaboration with Marvel Comics to create superheroes for every team. Up against a deadline, he had to write something about this abortion of a concept, and basically spat out the bare minimum, ending with something like "what could be next for these superheroes? Only time will tell."

This is Dan Bernstein's "only time will tell."

That Matt Flynn is still able to find work and not Tebow is all that really needs to be said about Tebow's future prospects in the NFL.

Matt will preempt any calls by Dan-Dan-Daning about it, after which it will be said that "we're not gonna do The Tebow Thing."

I'm gonna say that rather than needing drinky or a caller the Tebow thing sounds more like a strawman Dan himself will construct and destroy within the first 20 minutes. Probably during transition a passing reference will be made to the idiots (countless) who think Tebow is a good idea.

Borrowed Sentiments
Brown`s Campaign Takes Cue - And Some Wording - From Rock Song
October 27, 1991|By James Warren.

There will be a lineup change on ``Chevrolet Sportsfire,`` the jock gabfest on cable SportsChannel hosted by Chet Coppock, a man with a million buddies, including his good friend, the General, the coach of the Indiana Hoosiers, Mr. Bobby Knight.

Sun-Times sportswriter Terry Boers, who rotated as a co-host with colleague Brian Hewitt, is being dumped for new Sun-Times columnist Jay Mariotti. Mariotti has been heavily promoted-overpromoted, perhaps-by his new employer.

Does the switch result from pressure by the paper, a major sponsor that swaps free promotional space for commercials, or just painstaking analysis of Boers` and Mariotti`s aptitudes at TV interrogation? Or might it be Mariotti`s superior head of hair?

Jim Kezios, chief executive of Kost Broadcast Sales Inc., which produces the show and syndicates ``The Mike Ditka Show`` and ``Chicago Bears Weekly,`` says ``people involved in the show thought this might make it better,``

especially for national syndication.

``The Sun-Times did not request this but accepted it without any grievance,`` he says.

What did Chet say? Nothing much, but he called me ``partner.`` I love him.

I actually thought it was a pretty good article. It didn't need all the Freud stuff.

Should be a middle-screen opportunity sometime soon against this WAS defense. Have to sell it, though. #Bears

You know, the NFL is kind of inscrutable and unpredictable. Chiefs are 7-0 and no one saw that except Hub Arkush a year early.

I've been gone for the past half-hour. Have they really been running this press conference for the past 45 minutes?

Negative. Tress was cut off at approx 1:05. Emery picked up approx 1:35.

we're still in the "these guys are smart" mode with coach and GM, hence the long form press conference minus the drops and snide comments.
