It was this past Saturday, in case you were not aware. In past years, it was a date that got mention on the radio (flowers, nightwear, candy, etc.) as well as in commercials on TV. But this year, it seemed to go without mention. None that I heard anyway. Is it a date that will be fading away, due to indifference (many see it as valentines day-the sequel) or did others notice mention of the date that I somehow missed?

I saw mention of the date only on the internet. I took my wife out for a movie (Captain Phillips-pretty good) and dinner at Stoney River (very good as usual) in Deer Park. But it would have been easy to miss.

Not a holiday recognized in Missouri. Never heard anything about it once I moved away from the Chicagoland.

Glad for that, we don't need any more hallmark holidays

That's what I thought about it as well and perhaps the money companies were spending on advertising for products aimed at Sweetest Day sales were actually losing money on the advertising VS the additional revenue gained.

For those not familiar, this is in reference to a discussion that took place some time ago, in which I took issue with the fact that redskingreg allowed his girlfriend to pay for his meal as well as her own when they went out to dinner with friends. The comment did make me laugh when I saw it, so well played....

Wrong. But at least you are thinking! Also, it's only my second marriage. I may have had more than one ceremony to celebrate it, but it still only counts as a single marriage.

You'd think a Hallmark holiday would be recognized in Missouri inasmuch as Hallmark is based in Kansas City.

Once I was aware of it being this past Saturday, I thought it appropriate to take measures to observe the day. But afterwards, is struck me as odd that there seemed to have been no real mention of the date on the radio/TV as I remember there being in previous years.

Sweetest Day is for the corporations to take advantage of the feeble minded dolts who do what they're told to by calendars with Hallmark Holidays on them.

If you need a corporate manufactured "holiday" to show your wife or horse you love her you're doing it wrong every other day.
