Breaking Bad ruined the Walking Dead for me. It's too damn slow.

I liked the episode. Introduced some new fodder for zombies and gave everybody something to do instead of just standing around gloomy and yelling at each other all episode about what they should do.

I didn't think last night was all that slow at all.

Unfair to compare any show to Breaking Bad. Need to compartmentalize the greatness of BB to enjoy other shows more.

You're probably right. I also watched at 6 a.m., because I couldn't sleep. I still stand by my point that BB will continue to ruin shows for me. It just set the bar so damn high. Two Broke Girls just ain't da same.

Yeah, I go in understanding that Walking Dead isn't BB or Mad Men quality. I just want some entertainment.

That said, this show could get that good from time to time if it properly explored its world. It's interesting they just don't ever have the characters do much interaction in the world. I'm hoping this season is different - that's why I liked the start. It shows some promise.

yawn, very boring for a season opener.

What did Patrick die from? Anyone have an idea?

The way they focused on the shower head made me infer it's in the water? I'm a putz, though.

No, that makes no sense at all. He was sick before he got to the water.

The way his eyes bled out I assumed it was the Super Flu from The Stand.

I think he just got sick.

The shower was to try and help him cool down.

The definitely seemed to imply his germs were going into the water source I thought.

Maybe that'll be how they wipe out the Woodbury people.

I assumed it was a type of swine flu given the pig dying.

that's what I thought as well.

Does anyone remember what he was doing at the beginning of the episode when he met Darryl? Was he working with raw meat? Maybe he got some sort of bacterial infection?

good call Doc, that makes the most sense.

Don't know anything about swine flu, what should we expect in the next episode regarding that?

My internet medical degree says we'll likely see more people bleeding from the eyes by the blood bucketload, probably organs turning to liquid, and people's skin peeling off and then all turning into zombies.

So, nothing like the actual swine flu.

More like watching a Cubs game.

omg you know what I just thought of? In the episode they kept focusing on one particular zombie on the fence. It looked like he had no eyeballs and there was dried blood all around his eye sockets. I kept wondering why they kept showing him and what was the significance. Just figured it out, his eyes looked like Patrick's did after they bled out. He must've died from the same virus and evidentaly its going around.

Nice job reading any one of the 20 reviews online that focus on this.

:)

If it isn't reviewed by WZ and posted on this site, I don't see it.

So I guess I wasn't the only person to think of that?

16.1 million viewers

Up from 12 million for last year's season finale. Breaking Bad's finale got just over 10 million.

It's amazing how many people are cool with gruesome zombie death.

so, a helicopter crashes into a roof and doesnt go through and zombies walk on it for like a year or two. then finally the star characters find this walmart when nobody else did, and the moment they are in there theres like 40 holes "finally give way" in the roof and zombies fall in and a guy dies.

this season is looking lame off the bat

It is a show about zombies.

Believe it or not, you may have to suspend belief.

All I noticed during that scene was the Sweetwater IPA predominately featured.

no comments after ep 2? That's interesting, wonder if that's an indication the start to the season has been ho hum.

Next week should be good, in the preview on talking dead Darryl, Michonne, Tyrese and the new black guy go for a car ride and run smack dab into a herd of 7500 zombies. Would hate to be the token new black guy in that scenario, but I'm guessing they all make it out alive since the focused on token's possible drinking problem and never followed up on it. My guess is he still has some story left to tell.

I think the season is off to a great start. There are some logical issues but I can overlook those as long as it's entertaining. Plus, I think they are doing better quality character work this year specifically with Carol and Michonne and to a lesser extent Beth, Carl, and Rick.

That scene from next week did look pretty great.

I totally agree with the character development. The scene from next week looks very interesting.
It appears that in the background there was a very large complex of some sort so that could take
this season in almost any direction. I like that badass Rick is back.
