48-42 at Carrilon White/Red on Saturday. Even 90, not too bad, should have been about 85. 3 holes really got me; ball in the water on a par 3, took a 5. Sliced a drive somewhat that got me into tree trouble, and rather than just pitch back into the fairway, I had an opening and tried to hit a line drive to the green. I hit a line drive alright, but it went about 50 yards too far. Shot coming back went into the sand, so ended up taking a freakin 8. Then on the last hole, a par 5 with water all over the place, put my drive in the water and flubbed my third shot so ended up with a 7. Course was in pretty good condition. Greens were long grass and spongy, but rolling pretty quick which surprised me. The wind was brutal on the back 9.

I think I had one other double bogey, everything else was bogey and I had 5 pars. So not too bad otherwise. Still have the Waterloo holes which kill the scorecard. Par 3's have also been brutal for me the second half of this season. Early on in the year, I was getting a lot of birdies and pars on those. Since late July, its been 4's, 5's and a few a lot worse. Gotta correct both of those for next year.

Hoping possibly to get out for 9 holes on Saturday, which could be the last round of the season for me. Got a wedding in the afternoon and with it being so cold I doubt I'll be able to tee off early. Wont be able to the 2 weekends after that, so unless its unseasonably warm the sticks might be done until the spring (outside of the Eskimo Open in January!)

I don't think Brandel Chamblee and Tiger will be having dinner together anytime soon.

Cmon man, don't ruin the illusion. I was just getting ready to write an article about how awesome Srixon's new Z-star ball is in the hopes of picking up a few dozen.

Trust me; I would be the last person to get anything from anyone based on my comments about Tiger Woods.

39-46-85 at White Deer Run yesterday. Improved from my 91 there a couple weeks ago.

Was even through 6 holes and then the collapse started. 2 over at #9 and hooked a 6 iron off the tee 80 yards left into the lake. Had trouble with my long irons all day, hooked all of them. Everything else was spot on. Tee shots were good as usual, short irons and around the green were spot on. Putting was some of the best I've done all year. Rolled in a 25 footer and 12 footer for birdies and also rolled in 3-4 other sizeable putts thorughout the day...also lipped out two putts outside of 30 feet.

2 triple bogeys on the back did my score in.

Really thought I had a shot at breaking 80 for the second time this summer, but as usual a few holes sunk me.

Weather was great, put on some long underwear and a winter hat and didn't feel cold all day, sun was out which made the difference.

Shot 79 at Old Oak in Homer Glen on Saturday. Turned out to be a nice day despite a little wind on the back nine. If you know what I mean.

I had intended on playing Saturday but decided I didn't want to dedicate 5 hours of my day to it so I hit
balls at the driving range for an hour instead. I have a 27 hole scramble tournament this coming Saturday
and thus far it looks to be about 50 and mostly sunny so that would be very good. Very likely the last
round of the season for me so it will be bitter sweet. First prize in the tournament is a free county
membership for each member of the foursome so that would be a pretty sweet prize. Won it a few
seasons ago and didn't take full advantage of it.

Played yesterday at Joe Louis. Total dogtrack, but was only $19 on golfnow. Didn't play real well at all, ended up with 92. Only thing I was able to do good yesterday was putt, only had 35 putts for the round which is real good for me. One 3 putt and several 1 putts, granted most of them were for bogey :( Did sink about 70' of putts on back to back holes to close to the front 9 out with par par which was nice.

79 is a great score at Old Oak, Ugie. Thats a tough course.

Golf outing for work last week. I knew my team was in trouble when I was listed as the B player. We managed to grind out a -3 and finish 8 strokes off the lead.

You better win that scramble cause I'm expecting an invite to the club next summer!

We will do our best. Word has gotten out in the area and it usually attracts all of the ringers. Probably
going to take something around -22 to win I would guess.

People cheat all the time in scrambles just to win rather pedestrian door prizes. This has got to bring out some next-level cheaters.

Well, that is certainly part of the problem with events like this. They did have some rangers last year
and even some people sitting in the woods watching. Ideally you would like to have someone scoring
for each group. Just give the scorers a free round of golf or something. Not sure how they will do it this
year.

I was a sub for a Golf Channel Am Tour event last year and the guys I was paired with clearly cheated on a couple of holes. It was my first experience with competitive golf and, since I was a sub and didn't pony up any dough, I didn't say anything about it. Me and my partner won the match, but it really turned me off paying/playing when money or prizes are involved.

Golf is me vs. the scorecard, thats as competitive as I want it. Usually, the scorecard wins anyway.

The prize is a free COUNTY membership, which means you get to play for free at the park district courses owned by the county for a year. It's not a COUNTRY CLUB membership good for a year  . Big difference. Invite to the club...... thats rich.....

He is well aware of that Steve. I believe it was said jokingly. I never really thought so before but you sure are
a miserable prick. I am not surprised you would roll your eyes at a free season of golf at some nice county courses.

Steve is a total dumbass. Sure there are some crap municipal courses out there, but there are also some very nice ones too. Free golf is free golf. I really wouldn't complain about it at all. Maybe when Steve gets a free drink at the bar for being BURBANK STEVE IN ELMHURST, FAMED SPORTSRADIO CALLER he should give it back or complain about it.

shakes knows how T-Bone rolls. Pretty easy to understand why he would read that as a CC membership.

:eye: I wish. I have looked around for places locally but there is no way I can swing a country club membership
on my salary. This is the next best thing. One 18 hole course and another course with 45 holes of golf.

Lots of BS goes along with a CC membership. I would much rather be a member at a private golf course for serious golfers, not a club for serious snobs. When I lived in Indy, one of my staff member's father got us on at Wolf Run. OMG. Just an amazing golf experience. No carts, no noise, just an immaculate golf course for golf fanatics. Insanely hard.

Golf season is coming to an end and was looking back on things from 2013. Just wanted to see if people
wanted to share any memorable moments from this past golf season. It is a long 5 months or so until most
of us will be playing regularly again. Any memorable shots? Golf Courses? Funny stories?

According to my stats I averaged a 79 this season for the 23 rounds I played my own ball. Not as well as
I hoped to play but leaves a lot of room for improvement and looking forward to next season. I think with
scrambles I got out 30 times this year and was pretty happy with that considering I didn't get out until May.

Best and most memorable course I played all year was Big Foot CC near Lake Geneva. Beautiful private course.
Nothing too memorable happened. I guess the thing I will remember most was the 11 I took on a short par 4
at the county open. I look forward to playing next year and performing up to my ability for once. My goal is
to hit the gym hard this off season. I say it every year but really want to make it happen this year.

IMproved a lot early in the year, regressed from about the end of August until now.

Most memorable moment was July 20th when I shot my best round ever, even 80. -1 35 on the front 9; bogey, par, birdie, eagle, par, bogey, bogey, birdie, par. 2 weeks before at the same course, I was sitting on the 9th tee with a 32, and ended up getting a snowman on #9. Shot 84 on the day, which at that point was my best round. I wonder if I will ever have a stretch like that again

Funniest moment was at George Dunne earlier this year. Guy I was playing with on a par 5 hits his 2nd shot, a rocket off his hybrid. About 200 yards down, there is a group of deer eating. The ball hits on right in the back of the hip with a real loud SMACK that we would plainly hear. The deer takes another bite or 2, looks back our way, stares us down for about 5-6 seconds, then goes back to eating. It was like he was saying, "what, thats all you got motherfucker? Come at me!" It was pretty funny.
