I was driving home from work on the disputed play at 2nd so I just now saw the replay...
what the FUCK was the second base umpire seeing?
INSANE call. Just... inexcusable.

Same here, didn't see it when it first happened just saw replay. DeMuth shouldn't umpire another game in this series for missing that, That was fucking brutal.

It was horrible. The play itself, and the call.

This Series needs a reboot... I'll try unplugging it and plugging it back in.

It was inexcusable but here's what happened. Ump was focused on the bag to see if his foot maintained contact. He assumed the drop was on the exchange. So, it's bad, but he actually didn't see it. Only way to explain it cuz obviously it was clear that he never had possession of the ball. Nobody calls it that way if they actually saw it.

I'll admit my bias as I want Red Sox to win but seems to me Wainwright is getting more the benefit of the doubt than Lester as far as the strike zone for sure.

Wait 30 seconds before plugging it in.
You know what fuck that this is exactly what Cardinal Nation needs.

My point is nobody who actually was watching the ball would call it that way. Get it? He assumed the catch and was focusing on the bag.

It's no excuse cuz he should be able to see both with peripheral vision. He shouldn't have focused on the bag.

That's stupid. Why focus on the bag at all when it's going to be a neighborhood play anyway? Umps never focus on the bag in these scenarios? Get it?

I agree. I'm just explaining it. He could have seen both without focusing on one thing. And the neighborhood play is acceptable.

Its his fucking JOB to watch the whole play not just look at that base. Worst fucking thing an ump can do is assume.

The sad thing is, that would never get reversed in the regular season. But they did get it right, awkwardly. Basically the other 4 umps told him there is no way he even had possession of the ball to drop it on the transfer. Which anyone watching anywhere could tell you.

Fucking Matheny. Use 3 pitchers to 3 hitters in a 5-0 game. Glad it bit him in the ass.

Farrell needs to get Lester out. 7 innings 105 pitches with a 7 run lead is enough. Why tax him anymore if he needs to go 2 more times in a 7 game series. Stupid.

Dempster had his moments for the Cubs both good and bad, but I would be happy to see him get a ring
