Takes a special kind of stupid to mess with a cop's horse.

A guy I know from Chicago Heights had a police dog set loose on him so he killed it with his bare hands. The cops acted like he had just killed one of them. In fact, I believe the call went out as "officer down".

From Wikipedia:
In many jurisdictions the intentional injuring or killing of a police dog is a felony, subjecting the perpetrator to harsher penalties than those in the statutes embodied in local animal cruelty laws, just as an assault on a human police officer is often a more serious offense than the same assault on a non-officer. A growing number of law-enforcement organizations outfit dogs with ballistic vests, and some make the dogs sworn officers, with their own police badges and IDs. Furthermore, a police dog killed in the line of duty is often given a full police funeral.

One of my first jobs was at a canning factory. To can corn, Matt Abbatacola, there are knife machines that cut the kernels off the corn. They sit about 4 feet off the ground on a metal floor that allows the discarded material to sluice through to the ground underneath where there was a drain channel to take it away.

My job was to crouch down underneath the floor with a hose to spray all the material into the drain. This is while all the sticky corn materials rain down on you all shift. For $3.35/hour which was minimum wage at the time. A summer of 6 night/72-hour weeks paid for 2 classes at UofI...and some buckets of Natural Light.

Good times.

You know, you could just dispense with all the pretense and just say you sprayed down the nudie-booths at the adult video shop near campus ... only Mini-Dicka would judge you ... and then ask for the address.

One of my friends in high school had the job of cleaning and painting the seats at The Admiral.

In high school I worked at a frozen custard stand and our whole "uniform" was pink and teal - hats, shirts, aprons - it matched the pink and teal leather furniture in the store.

I just either won or lost this thread.

Won it obviously because it had to have been a world record for biggest pink hat ever worn.

I worked at Ford City Movie theater threw High school and college. The day after Thanksgiving was usually the worst, followed by Easter and Christmas night. One random Tuesday or Wednesday night while in college this guy to watch a movie and as he went to his car was executed in the parking lot. The door was open and his body was halfway in the car. I didn't look at his face but seeing the legs sticking out of the car was very disturbing.

It was my first night as an Air Traffic Controller. I did not realize there would be hazing.

My former role as auto detailer included bouts with vomited scrambled eggs down the dashboard vents, baby kittens born in the radiator fan shroud, minnow bucket tipped over from the back seat a couple of weeks ago, 5 gallons of anchovy sauce in the hatchback, and the trapped dog in the cab of the pickup.

It's not on the level of "Tales from food factories" but when I was a lab TA in college I finished teaching the introduction to the programming lab project and then watched people start. Within the first 5 minutes, one of the girls in the class started crying and told me she can't do it. It actually is a pretty terrible position to be in because you aren't supposed to help them too much because the point is to learn themselves but I doubt we are supposed to let them cry for an hour then go home(I save that for the bedroom). I was able to calm her down and help her out and get her started. She ended up doing the rest of it herself and survived the semester.

and Mrs. Boilermaker Rick has thanked you every day since for pushing her to be the best she could be

I haven't had any really bad jobs on the scale of some of you guys. They were either fun but for minimal pay or absolute drudgery but for enough pay to make it well worth the pain. My worst day was probably when I came into the office around 6 am, worked through the night on my superior's project and was greeted by her as she came into work the next morning by being told to file it, clean myself up and get back in...essentially a 36 hour day. I think I was delusional from sleep deprivation by the end.

and yes, the worst part is the "her" and the weakness of pimp hand available to me at that time in my life.
