Remember when he was the Cubs second baseman of the future?? Interesting read. I didn't know he "quit" baseball.

The writer breaks up A. J. Burnett’s no-hitter with a pinch-hit single on July 31, 2012.

 Truly one of the greatest moments in Cubs history. I wish someone was here to mention Burnett's GLORIOUS turn with the New York Yankees

I told you, I got an invite weeks ago. I have been keeping it quiet.

He forgot the part the he says "HE REGRETS IT"

Being a student has some personal rewards and the challenge is available to you the rest of your life. Your ability to play baseball is a very limited time and even a more limited chance.

I have known a athletes in my time and have talked with them about careers outside of whatever sports they played. Had one pro/minor league hockey player work with me for a summer to see what real estate was like. At the end of the summer I asked him what he was going to do and he was still unsure. My advice was 'Until they make you take the skates off, keep playing"

Now, I see him from time to time and he says I could be more right.

Playing pro sports is a luxury of life most who play it will never comprehend until it is gone. That doesnt mean it is their fault. They see the peace, quiet and self improvement of being a student, which is all great, but it is also much better with a few mill in the bank!

Cardenas was released by the Cubs after being released by the A's, right? He didn't say that he was offered a minor league deal from another team and turned it down to pursue a higher education. Did he quit baseball or did baseball quit him?

Cardenas never was considered the Cubs 2nd basemen of the future. He was a journeyman brought in to compete for a roster spot and for depth in AAA.

Don't make shit up!

So he's quitting or can't get a job? Who fucking cares!
