It certainly would be. I've never seen a watermark on a suit before.

That's why it's a $5,000 suit.

I hope Mac gets well, but I think he is finished with the Score and possibly anywhere as a
full time host.
He's on anothe "leave" from work. This time there is no mentioned of a paid leave. Management
would be extremely foolish to take him back AGAIN. I doubt anyone takes the risk of hiring him full time,
knowing his addiction and depression problems. He has Always fought with management where ever
he has worked and it has always ended badly for whatever station it has been.

Hope you conquer your demons Mac, but you must do so, no one else will do it for you.

Get well Mac. This sounds gay and pathetic but you have been a part of my life. I grew up listening to you with my old man in the early 90s. Start a podcast. Find a new partner. Re-evaluate you approach to radio and examine this overly produced scripted product you've been putting out. It's stale and very ESPN-like. You must have enough fuck you money to do whatever you want for awhile.

On the plus side, maybe this will free us from the talent-less hack that is Finfer.

Mac was the first and probably still only public figure I've heard talking about being the parent of a child with Autism in a real-life manner.

His willingness to share impacted my life. I thank him for that. On the off chance you might be reading the board still, get better Mac. I'm sure there's more people out there for you to help.

This is pretty much what I was thinking too. At some point addiction will cost a person everything. If all Mac loses is his job & he can save everything else in his life, that is all that matters. His health & Family are more important than his career. I never really got the impression that he was loving the radio business the last couple of years. Hopefully he has made smart financial decisions & if he is done at the Score he can live comfortably.
I hope that Mac can get well.

Is depression an addiction? I thought it was an illness. I can't imagine losing your job can be good for someone that is already depressed.

I guess that is a chicken and egg thing. Does depression lead to addiction, or does addiction lead to depression? Who knows.

Depression is an imbalance in the brain chemistry. Exists quite well in the absence of addiction. Addiction is a whole other ball of wax. Consider them separately, instead of one being the catalyst for the other.

A lot of the time they are coincidental. Many self medicate depression not knowing their situation and get the other issues.

You think Mac loves his job? Do you even listen?

I think he means that Mac doesn't show up enough for it to really be much of a bother.

Preface: the below is total speculation on my part.

IMO depression is not just something that happens out of the blue. There are causes/triggers. Of course some people are genetically predisoposed to it, others are not. But if you look at "traditional" cultures (remember the Yanomamo people in 6th grade social studies) researchers find much less evidence of depression, if any at all. So this leads me to believe depression is caused by environmental/societal/behavioral factors related to "modern day life."

Work makes up such a huge part of our lives (even Mac puts in an 8 hour day if you consider commuting and reading the sports page). So it very well could be related to work. Otherwise you are left with homelife. Mac seems to be happily married, but who knows? He's got a son he appears to love. Plenty of TVs and steak.

My guess: he doesn't give a shit about his job or sports in general (except for hockey). He probably feels trapped with a job he hates, but it pays to support his semi-lavish lifestyle along with providing essential support for his relatives. When you are depressed, this feels like you are trapped between two unworkable alternatives and it seems as if you are DOOMED.

I believe most people who die at office jobs die in the bathroom, so feel better about your desk!
