Rose's assist to turnover ratio has always been low. Now it's worse than ever and his shooting is off as well. I realize in a few weeks the shooting will likely improve dramatically. But it was said that he was studying the offense all last season and disecting defenses with Thibs, learing how to attack them. He said he was going to return as the same player he was before. Thats unfortunate, because he could have chosen to become more of a pure point guard (chris paul type) and the team would have been better off.

Rose will be fine.

And he is not a PG in the Chris Paul mold. To judge him as such is goofy. He's a hybrid guard. His physical tools allow him to do this. I wouldn't want him to try to be a Chris Paul type. I'm sure his opponents would breathe a sigh of relief if he did, though.

I think 25 games is fair mark by which to start worrying about Rose, that is if he continues to play like he did during the first two games.

I see my name has been taken in vain again, this time regarding Rose.

Right now,he is Nate Robinson with a much better shoe contract. What separates the elite from the pretty decent is consistency. I think the more he plays, the better he gets. Long season,we shall see.

It's not time to press the panic button. However, if I were DRose, I would use my other point guard skills until my shot came back.

he'll get his shot back, but that's why he's taking so many shots. he has to. he'll come around. he hasn't played competitive basketball in a year. give him some room.

Is he lacking elevation on his layups?

Only god knows!

I don't even like mocking what i think is a good kid, but the whole "everything" deal just needed to be held off until he made a damn basket!

His cross court pass in the 4th did not lack elevation. I think it landed in the 5th row.

I sort of understand why his shots are not falling or his decisions are bad, but I don't understand why it looks so different when he's going to the basket. He's not finishing layups that he used to finish, and yet, physically he looks the same as he did before. Is it a lack of lift? A lack of confidence? I can't tell.

He didn't want to return at the end of last season because he wanted to return as the player he was before the injury. Not only is he not shooting well, he's not finishing at the rim, he's turning the ball over too much, his assist/turnover ratio sucks and he's not playing very good defensively. Right now, he's a liability.

Possibly, but I still think he's right in what he said. I wasn't one of the many drinking the Derrick Kool-aid all last season. He acted like a bitch at the end of the season and until he can prove that he's 110% of what he used to be, you can keep him.

Considering your statement, as follows, and as quoted from an alternate site:

"But based on who could show up, the baggage and drama WILL come with it. You guys have no problem stopping people at the door, right? Some people over there are known to be nothing but problems. The racists, trollers and what not don't need the freedom to get everyone worked up before they're tossed.

The community here is growing nicely. I'm sure we all want to keep it that way."

....

I wouldn't expect you to agree with anyone on this board.

First of all, as I said, it's SOME, not all of the people here. I can easily agree with quite a few people on this board. Secondly, You may have felt that FF was trolling, but that doesn't mean he was. Plenty of people agree with that view of Derrick. Thirdly, I didn't say I agree with anything about Elmhurst Steve. My feelings about him are no secret. I said I agreed with the statement that he made. Not every statement. The ONE I quoted.

Elmhurst Steve is garbage. That's irrelevant to this conversation. You apparently know everyone's intentions by heart at THIS board, in which you have less than 1,000 posts. I'm not claiming to be some old sage, as I have only been here a little less than three years, but I would suggest you keep your "opinions" to a minimum or risk getting thrown into the fire with everyone else, some of whom have actual thoughts.

You would be selling high right now. There's probably plenty of GMs that think he will be great again. He looks TERRIBLE. I really can't emphasize that strongly enough. Iman Shumpert and Rubio returned from the exact same injury and didn't look 1/10th as bad. The Derrick we knew is gone. He ain't comin back. By the time the Bulls brass sees this his trade value will be zero.

Wrong.

His physical attributes are just as good as they were. His shots will fall, and his confidence will come. I'd be willing to double or nothing our Bears/Packers bet that Derrick will average at least 20 ppg through the second half of the season.

Fuck 20 ppg. I think Bargnani scored that one year. It wouldn't prove anything. Since you basically already lost the Bears bet I will double or nothing it with a different wager. How bout Derrick making an All Star game this year? If he's even close to his old self you'll easily win that bet. Deal?

Oh and you're wrong and most likely not watching games if you think he is physically the same. Despite those reports of his newfound +5 inch vertical, he has significantly less elevation. He has a weaker first step and his hand eye coordination is completely off kilter and is the reason he keeps turning the ball over and getting successfully trapped.

And lay off cookie and the other board nonsense in this thread man. Enough of that bullshit in a dozen other threads around here if one needs their daily fill of message board drama.
