Genius Strategist.

All the analysts were saying the Bears couldn't beat the Packers without Cutler. The defense can't stop Rodgers. What could the Bears do to win this game?

Marc Trestman's answer: injure Rodgers on the first series.

Brilliant!

I laughed and doubted Trestman but I'm starting to believe in him.

With an average defense right now, this team would be really impressive. With the injuries and age, cant do much about it, but next year, this is a team that could be really really good! Wont get the hype early season because the defense will be all new.

This.

Bears/Emery might have found something here.

Give them one more Bennett type talent at TE and they have the makings of an elite offense

Why was that so? Just curious. I thought the only questions we'd have about him were 1) would NFL players respect him as coach and as a leader, and 2) would he neglect the defense just like Lovie didn't put too much thought into offense.

Out of the league a long time. I was worried he was the classic case of a good assistant but not able to be a head coach. I was concerned at how basically the whole league passed him over so he had to go to Canada.

The QB whisperer made McCown look like a legitimate starting QB last night. His play calling was stellar and I love that he went for it on 4th down late in the game. Ballsy call and it worked. Too bad they don't have last year's defense to go with this years offense.

That 4th down call was still stupid and a huge risk. If they do not get it there people would be firing up the Fire Trestman sites.

I like what I have seen so far. I hope it continues. They have to get some things fixed on the D.

I disagree. It was the right call. The defense can't be trusted and if you can't get an inch you don't deserve to win. I hope he makes more calls like it. I will admit I wasn't happy with the actual play called but the decision was a good one.

Agreed, Nas. Also factor in that Podlesh looked like a deer in headlights going out there because he knew that 10 Packers would be coming in for the block. That had block or 30 yard shank punt written all over it.

Not sure why they didn't QB sneak when you needed literally about 2" for the first down, but it all ended up working out.

That's why I was happy with that call-the defense was struggling to stop GB's rushing attack and I don't think they could be trusted to stop them from running the ball down their throats for a winning TD. the offense was able to keep the ball for about 9 minutes and nearly run the clock down entirely.

Starting to believe this was a pretty good hire, offense looks above average .

Even more to your point, I think it showed confidence that the offense would still score to win the game even if the defense gave up something after a turnover on downs. There were something like 7 minutes left at the 33. You figure that is an automatic 3 for the Packers and possibly 7. I imagine there would be 3+ minutes to recover.

I didn't feel the Packers had a stop in them at that point. Gruden was correct in that the Bears simply have the advantage against just about every team in their WR going up against CB.

The offense is by far the best of the three teams the Bears are putting out there. Don't take them off the field because of two inches.

I don't recall - was McCown actually on the roster when Trestman got here, or did he pull his number out of the Rolodex?

They gave him a call so he could babysit Cutler.

Yes that's right. Granted, McCown was recently here, but good phone call made by the coach.

Especially if Wilson can become something, with his speed. Are you assuming Cutler as the QB? I can't envision an elite offense until I know for sure who the QB is going to be.

If Wilson develops, you really have yourself something. Can you imagine what Knox would be doing in this offense?
