Per my sources Doc, the Score will be players and Laurence has already been told that he will do PBP and make $300K a season.

WGN radio should keep the Cubs. The Cubs do greatly affect their ratings.

WGN TV should tell them to go fuck off. WGN gets plenty of income by carrying the CW & do well w/ the Bulls & Blackhawks. They also still carry Sox games, so they still have something for the summer.

WGN is in a panic with the Cubs opting out of their deal after 2014. They have 30 days (since Tuesday) to agree to a deal at a significantly higher rate or the bidding begins. It's basically the Cubs that told WGN to fuck off. ESPN and the Score will both be interested if they get the chance at the broadcast rights.

The Score would do anything it could to get the cubs. I think it is the most valuable contract in town. Yes, better than the Bears! As I think most people watch Bears games, once a week you schedule it in, if you have to listen to it on radio, that means you are driving back from somewhere you didnt want to be! or, you are such a diehard that you have synced up for TV and the Radio for indepth Joniak analysis!

Plus every other thing that happens in a Cubs radio broadcast is sponsored. Bears advertising is easy to sell, but you have much less airtime to work with.

If the CSFMB gets the Cubs, will you never post again?

WGN is getting crushed on the Cubs radio deal. Were probably making bank though on TV side.

I really dislike the Score broadcasting games. I think it does lead to bias and impugnes their credibility to an extent. It also results in bad programming in bad years when I am most likely to listen. I'd rather have a station that doesn't talk sports be the flagship which increases the amount of sports radio in the city

I have noticed...

...and it may be slight...

...but a slight tip of the cap periodically to the current NIU quarterback and his numbers, most recently yesterday from Larry. This would not have happened before.

That's something I hate. In the winter I'm usually driving home at 7 at night and the worst is when WGN has NU basketball, SCR has DePaul, and MVP has UIC on at the time time. I figure with 3 stations I can get some sports talk, but no such luck.

one day, I'd love to have a conversation with one Dan Bernstein about this. I really believe this to be true.
