Lets take out 3 of our best offensive players just to make it fair to the defense. Trestman won that game against the packers. He lost it today. Poor gameplan from the beginning

I haven't seen most of it yet. What happened? What should they have been doing, aside from Cutler not playing.

If Josh McCown looks like a Pro Bowler in his offense, I'd say that makes him an offensive guru. Since he starts an injured Jay Cutler, I'd say that makes him a bad coach (for that one decision).

I thought his play calling was fine today. It was his decision making that cost the Bears. Leaving Cutler in when he was clearly injured and not taking those points in the first half.

The plays for the 2 point conversion to tie were bad.

Spread it out to allow for the most options.

Yeah a shotgun draw from the 1 when Forte had been awful all day is pretty damn far from my definition of fine. The same goes for the 4th and 1; the decision was correct but the call sucked.

It didn't even need to have options. Betting the farm on a throw to Alshon or Marshall with no one else running a route would have even been ok with me.

The first chance at the 2 point conversion featured removing Marshall, Jeffrey and I believe Bennett in some odd hope of confusing the Lions. The second play was equally dumbfounding but who would ever take out those two?

McCown would have been stuffed. Did you see the penetration the Lions got when they stopped Forte? Do you think McCown would have had better luck?

I'm wondering if they went with Cutler because McCown may be easier to game-plan against. McCown has looked awesome, but I assume no system can hide his average physical skills for more than a game or two. With six quarters on tape, I'm sure Detroit would have enough data to come up with some schemes to really frustrate McCown, who I assume can be easily frustrated more so than better skilled QBs.

Possibly. They didn't do it though when he came off the bench rusty. The Bears left at least 14 points on the field yesterday. They should have won even with an injured Cutler and I believe they win with a healthy McCown.

True, but Detroit was in prevent at that stage of the game. I think a full game would be different - take away short to intermediate throws, use the same game plan against the run that they used yesterday, and force McCown to beat you exclusively through the air.

Jay Cutler's "physical skills" are overrated. Nick Foles is currently making great throws too multiple times a game. It's time to stop celebrating the fact that Jay Cutler can have a good drive every so often.

I would have strongly agreed with you 4-5 years ago, or whenever it was that Pennington broke into the league and did quite well. But he's been an afterthought for awhile now. I think he's only starting now in Jacksonville because Gabbert is injured.
