Wow, we agree! It's a miracle.[/quote]

Yeah. I was saying this after the first couple of series. Cutler wasn't awful but he was clearly injured. Now you just hope you don't lose him for the season.

Cutler looked fine in the first half besides the redzone interception. The offense was playing with good pace even though Forte was bad. Not sure if he couldn't take more medication or if the medication was no longer strong enough. He was all arm for most of the second half.

I think this one game had so many game changing plays,we should list them.

I haven't heard Mat Slausen's name mentioned all season (good thing!),until today, bad thing.

It's not a touchdown if he doesn't hold him there I don't believe. Forte is #3 on the list of people to blame. He had been great the past 2 weeks but he didn't show up. Too many shoestring tackles.

Itlooked to me the holding occurred AFTER Forte was passed him,but I have to break down the tapes first. :drunken:

I also have Forte as #3 on my list. He cannot shake off 1st contact... ever.

Here are two very dumb plays made today:

1) Bennet on 3rd down makes a catch and runs out of bounds before the 1st down marker. It didn't matter because there was also a roughing the passer call on Detroit.

2) Jeffrie also makes a catch and voluntarily ran out of bounds at the 12(?) when it looks like he could have turned and ran another 4-7 yards.

I'll never rip a guy for wanting to play. It's Trestman's fault.

Agree completely. It's ultimately Trestman's call. He should have went to the bullpen earlier.

The trio of broadcasters kept saying, sooner or later the coach has to step in and make the decision.

NO! The coach ALWAYS makes the decision.

This is bizarre.

Oh I agree. Trestman's fault that Cutler cost them the win.

You defer to your star player most of the time. Trestman is still trying to win over his QB and this team. Cutler did him no favors today BUT he still needs to pull him. I give Trestman 80% of the blame.

Cutler isn't the star player though. Trestman has more job security right now than he does.

FWIW, while I think it's 100% Trestman's fault, I respect the 20%. I had it in my head you were thinking it was closer to 50-50.

Pretend "Star" players get you fired. I wonder if Cutler does not come back this season,do the Bears sign him?

Right. I actually wouldn't be surprised if the rest of the locker room didn't respect Trestman's decision to leave him in there. Marc shouldn't be catering to Jay. Jay is in his last year of his contract and isn't guaranteed to be here. He should be catering to the rest of the team if anything.

He isn't one of the stars of the offense? He's in the top 4.

I completely agree. I understand giving your guy a chance but that courtesy should have ran out in the 3rd quarter.

Cutler talked him out of it? That was really weird.

I am obviously not a fan of Cutler, but I don't get the whole "selfish" thing. Of course Cutler is more concerned with his own career than the team. So does every player in any sport ever. Without his own career, the team wouldn't matter at all. Let's not live in a fairy tail land where everything is "for the good of the team." Cutler was probably playing for job security, and it is the coach's responsibility to legislate such things. It is Trestman's fault that Cutler played. And in my opinion, it is Trestman's fault if Cutler plays again this year. McCown is better.

I don't know what happened... I was guessing but it appeared coming back to the beginning of the 3rd that McCown was coming in.

I don't recall a QB looking that gimpy for that long and continuing to be put out there. Maybe Favre but he was probably being a drama queen a lot of the time. McNabb threw up in the Superbowl but was still effective.

I understand your point but as the leader of the team that isn't something you do. Cutler will have a starting job next season. He isn't some player that is barely on a roster. Some team will pay him a lot of money to start.

Mr. Leash,
Can you believe you made that statement? I think a lot of guys here agree. Right now,Josh seems to be way more proficient at getting the ball in the endzone for this team! In the end, that's all that matters.

The old Redskins had 2 gimps: Sonny Jurgenson & Billy Kilmer.

It's hard to believe Jimmy, but Cutler has showed me a lot about "talent" that I never would have believed prior to his tenure. Arm strength is a necessity for an NFL QB, but elite arm strength is simply a luxury that is irrelevant without decision-making skills.

I used to be a huge Cutler fan and I'm not anymore but I don't know if I'm ready to jump on the McCown bandwagon yet. He's looked great but I remember him from a couple years ago.
