A week before this went down, Jonathan Martin texted me on my phone, 'I will murder your whole F'ing family.' Now, do I think Jonathan Martin was going to murder my family? Not one bit. He texted me that. I didn't think he was going to kill my family. I knew that was coming from a brother. I knew it was coming from a friend. I knew it was coming from a teammate.”-- Richie Incognito, during interview with Fox

According to the Sun Sentinal, just before Incognito's racially charged phone call was made, Dolphins coaches asked Incognito to "toughen Martin up" This was after Martin had declined participation in a voluntary workout in the spring. Again, before this is over there is going to be a lot of blame divided between parties and I will be shocked if both Philben and the GM aren't both fired.

I can't believe how much Martin did wrong in this scenario.

That was according to Tannehill.

I didn't say Martin did anything wrong in that scenario. If I find fault with Martin, it was in concentrating on recording conversations and accumulating proof of his mistreatment, rather than standing up for himself (he's 6 foot 5 , 330 pounds for crying out loud) and focusing on resolving whatever issues caused him to be ostracized as he was. What reason would anyone have for accumulating all that material, other than to use it against those teammates? He had to know that doing that could destroy the team. But he chose to put himself ahead of the team. That I do find fault with.

So you think he should have just started fights with everyone on the team that fucked with him?

Ultimately, Jonathon Martin put his love of tape recording roided up meatheads above trying to be friends with a group of guys who hated him and a coaching staff that was instructing people to mess with him. Hopefully Goodell suspends him for not getting along with people.

Let's not forget that Goodell should suspend him for not starting fights with a dozen teammates too. I mean, a man has to stand up for himself, he's 6'5" 330 for Christ sake, he should be able to fight when outnumbered! PUSSY!

I believe it wasn't actually a text, but it was a funny picture from the internet.

I knew as soon as I saw the interview that Martin's attorneys would answer that specific claim before the day was out. I'd say they did a good job.

In fairness, Martin should have killed Incognito's family. You know, stand up to the bully.

Im not trying to blame Martin, just saw that online

I just think its bullshit if Martin took part in the hazing (from the hazer standpoint) and then decided it wasnt cool.

That's how some are painting it.

Martin didn't haze anyone though. It was a funny picture from the internet.

Incognito is basically lying.

That's not the only time I heard it. Jimmy Johnson mentioned that Martin had done the get up and leave the table thing to another player the week before. He said it like it was fact.

Im not pursuing every angle of this story but if that's true than Martin is at least a little hypocritical

Incognito is a dumb jock racist asshole, regardless

You shouldn't believe anything that comes from the Dolphins now though.

Even if it is true though, he can't be blamed for going with the crowd who was bullying him. He'd be subjecting himself to even more abuse.

Yeah, nothing excuses Incognito or his actions, Im just not so sure about Martin being 100% innocent.

Conns posted a story about Cam Cleeland losing an eye in a hazing accident in the other thread and Im sorry but this is hilarious, at least how Cleeland talks bout Ditka

“Coach [Mike] Ditka gave me a speech as soon as it was done,” Cleeland told Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times. “He was like, ‘Oh, man, you should have just popped those guys in the mouth.’ I said, ‘Coach, there were 60 of them.’”

So Martin can't be blamed for anything right?

Even if he participated in the same hazing that he freaked out over and even though he sent Incognito a text message saying he doesn't blame him for this.

It's EVERYONE else's fault and nothing to do with the fact that Martin might be weak minded?

A Richie Incognito mult that harassed new posters here would have been something back in the multing era of this board.

Yes.

Everyone who has ever been bullied is weak minded. That's kind of the reason they get bullied.

I didn't say there was a justified reason for that. I'm saying that Martin isn't 100% free and clear on this whole thing. To say that he is makes me laugh.

This is going to be just like the George Zimmerman deal. Most people rush to judge and then lots of facts come out later to prove their initial take on the matter WRONG. Ironically, there was a Martin involved in both cases. Lots of blame will wind up being spread between the parties, with nobody walking away unscathed. Martin will wind up regretting the fact that he brought all this to light, when it's shown he was just as guilty as Incognito and others of the kind of transgressions that he complained of having to endure.

It's not ironic. It's a coincidence.
