biggie, do you just hate everything government? or does the post office actually suck in chicago?

i ask, because usps is the pinnacle of efficient business. at least around here (and in rockford). they offer the cheapest rates, with the fastest service, with the least amount of dented boxes. also, a great deal of fedex and ups packages end up being delivered by the post office because the private companies cant keep up without overspending.

They aren't run by the government.

Efficient business usually results in profits.

They lose $25 MILL a day?????? How in the world do you equate this with EFFICIENCY???? because you get your mail??? lol

I have no idea where you came up with the fact of "great deal of fedex and ups packages end up being delivered by the post office because the private companies cant keep up without overspending" or even what it means ?

You think USPS delivers fed Ex and UPS because why?

If it cost 66 cents to mail a letter, then make the damn stamp 70 cents! Instead of spending millions each year to study your own business and then more millions to produce new stamps!

I feel bad for the Postmaster General. He gets paid shit. Blamed for everything wrong with the post office. But is not allowed to make any changes to fix it either.

Congress won't let them really change their pricing to one that actually makes sense. They won't let them close post offices that don't do anything. They won't let them eliminate delivery days. It's pretty ridiculous. The USPS is supposed to a be a private company, but Congress holds it hostage due to the funding of the pensions.

Econ 101 was a good class.

When demand is elastic, if the price increases by one percent, the quantity demanded will decrease by more than one percent. Total revenue will decrease.

Econ 101 says losing $25 mill a day is not 'efficient"

Page 1, day 1, sentence 1

It may be the most efficient outcome possible, given the constraints on profit maximization.

thats my point. you cant look at the company by how much money they lose because of those reasons. you CAN look at their performance, over the last decade, and conclude they have the best run shipping company over any other. and yes, they do deliver rival packages. when a package gets delayed on a ups or fedex route, and they wont be able to deliver the package in time, they dump it into the mail system and cut their losses while making sure it gets there quickly.
