Mr. Leash,
Can you believe you made that statement? I think a lot of guys here agree. Right now,Josh seems to be way more proficient at getting the ball in the endzone for this team! In the end, that's all that matters.

It's hard to believe Jimmy, but Cutler has showed me a lot about "talent" that I never would have believed prior to his tenure. Arm strength is a necessity for an NFL QB, but elite arm strength is simply a luxury that is irrelevant without decision-making skills.

Brett Favre proved you can get away with bad decision making most of the time.

Yes. I am going to be one of the first to be willing to say that he wasn't really that damn "great" a QB.

That's hyperbole. Any QB makes good decisions MOST of the time. It's a matter of the percentage of decisions that are not good vs those that are. Jay Cutler has the bad decision-making of a Favre combined with a lack of good decision-making that Favre did have most of the time.

Maybe not but he had "it". I would take him over just about anyone else. When the ball was in his hand late in games I always felt his team would win. A lot of years I hoped I was wrong.

Lunacy

His run from 95-98 is one of the greatest ever

He was not only a great quarterback, he is easily one of the ten best to ever play the game.

he had McCown with his helmet on, jay in a cap and it looked like the change was gonna happen... then... ???[/quote]

I don't recall a QB looking that gimpy for that long and continuing to be put out there. Maybe Favre but he was probably being a drama queen a lot of the time. McNabb threw up in the Superbowl but was still effective.[/quot

last year in playoffs when rg3 was gimping around while cousins was ready n waiting . trestman pulled a shannahan.

He wasn't ever terribly accurate or fast... he was frequently reckless.
I'm not sure he makes a top 10 all time list.

I probably wouldn't have Favre in my Top 10 of all time. He sullied his legacy with way too many turnovers.

I think these days that top 5 thing gets crowded for me. There are a lot of QB's I'd take before Favre not offense to him.

Those are popular but I can name 4 today I would take before him. Not even going to the golden era of late 80's early 90's.

Manning
Brady
Brees
Rodgers

What about Young, Unitas, Marino... I think I'd take them over Favre.

All great QB's Marino misses out because he didn't get a ring. I put Favre there because I think he is underrated by many for things that have nothing to do with his play on the field. The guy was a great QB and an ironman. Considering the abuse he took at QB that is one hell of a streak. Beyond the streak he holds a shit load of records and the best receiver he had was Sterling Sharpe for 3 years. How great would he have been if he had the weapons of a Steve Young? Would he needed to take some of the same risks? He played at an extremely high level through several eras and until the age of 41.
