Being well known is one thing. Having the phrases added to baseball lexicon is another.

Maybe Im wrong. I like Hawk anyway.

I'm pretty sure a lot of Hawk's phrases are widely known beyond the seven of us who watch Sox games. He named Frank Thomas "The Big Hurt" for God's sake.

Ok, maybe were talking about different things here

I thought we were talking about Phrases Hawk invented that get used in general baseball calls having nothing to do with Hawk.

Game announcers don't really copy others. Let's use Chris Berman as an example. "Back. Back. Back" is clearly a baseball term but I doubt that the guys who do San Diego games are using it.

To sidestep from "Area White Sox Fan Thinks Hawk Harrelson Is Great" for a second and examine another finalist, did anyone else hear the clip of Mike Shannon laughing at Napoli holding the runner at first right before picking him off? Great stuff. That guy is like the drunk paterfamilias of The Cardinal Family.

Hawk sucks. I hope he retires to the big golf course in the sky. Sooner rather than later.
