Thought about putting this in DBOTW . Just observed a woman come out of a restaurant and hock one right on the sidewalk in front of me. For the life of me I can't remember the last time I spit in public. Men's rooms, at home during an illness , or the matinee at the Bijou are about the only times I can recall doing that as an adult. All in all I feel it's one of the more classless things you can do in public. Am I off base on that?

The act of spitting isn't DB worthy, but hocking a nasty one on the sidewalk where people are walking is. Smokers who are oblivious to the smoke from their cancer stick blowing in somebody else's face, are much worse.

There is no way that I am swallowing a huge loogie, unless of course I am at the matinee at the Bijou. I will find a garbage can, a bush, or somewhere else, so that nobody has to see it and/or step in it.

I'll be slightly more forgiving in that if one can at least make the effort to not do it anywhere near a common area (e.g., if there's nothing around the corner, try to do it there right up against a building or somewhere nobody would ever think of walking).

But if it's a wherever/whenever/fuck everyone else kind of gimmick, seconded and thirded.

I've developed a bad spitting habit the last 5 years or so while on the golf course. This is directly correlated
to the smokeless tobacco usage. The funny thing to me is that it doesn't cross over into my life while out
in public around others. I am currently cutting out the tobacco which in itself is a pretty gross habit. Best to
be discreet hocking loogies out in public especially if you are a woman.

I played at Bolingbrook about one month ago. Several times, I spotted a huge pool of goo, that some slob spat on the fairway.

People who leave cigar ash, or sunflower seed shells on the green, should have their genitals fed to a wolf.

I am very careful when on the green and the fairways aren't often a problem for me. If I am in a situation where
I can't spit it out somewhere appropriate I have no problem not spitting it at all. Luckily I have a pretty strong
stomach. Hopefully not a problem in 2014 although quitting is easier said then done. I think after I go to the
dentist in two weeks that will be a good kick in the butt to just do it.

If you are on the putting green, you need a clean surface, so the ball will roll true to the hole. A big pile of ash will obstruct your ball. It's not the end of the world to remove it, but there is an etiquette, by which golfers are expected to observe, especially on an $80 per round course. $80 for the rest of you savages. I play for free as a guest of a member.

Add guys who don't fix their ball marks on the green, to my above statement.

All the golf carts I've used have never had an ashtray in them. This would seem to be a good soltuion for people wanting to dispose of cigar or cigarette ashes on the golf course.
