Crazy shit in elmhurst ( and not just Steve...). Wind, pouring rain, hail, thunderstorms. Then a minute later relatively nothing... Then repeat.

I'm one step ahead as I wear one in my daily life.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure about my mom about 15 minutes east of us in Washington. I pray to God she went to church because if she did she was on the other end of town from the tornado. My sister lives over there and is going to check in on her. Unfortunately, police are stopping traffic from going into town. There are absolutely flattened neighborhoods. I have friends in the neighborhoods that were hit.

No fatalities reported yet.

PSA... check your water heater and (if applicable) furnace pilot lights... always a ton that blow out and need to be lit the day after big winds, last time we had big winds I lit probably 20 the next day, so check them out.

Yea.....the stories are now coming in. The car of a guy I know was pushed through his garage floor and into his basement. His house is completely gone. Amazing how many people I know have been affected by this tornado. I've heard there is only 1 fatality as of now, has not been confirmed.

I know the standard line is "things can be replaced, at least everyone is O.K." I just can't imagine trying to go to sleep after having lost everything. I probably won't be able to see my mom until tomorrow. She's got no cell phone and everyone who is non-essential has been ordered to stay out. Water supply is in jeopardy and power has gone out at one of the central shelter locations.

Horrible, horrible day.

I just got word that another one of my friends has lost everything. Clothes, pictures....everything. His neighborhood will have to be bulldozed.

Yes. This is the closet it's ever hit to home for me. Just found out my friend's mom lost their home and that's about 40 years of memories gone right there. That's the kind of loss that hurts.
