The band had previously asked fans to don fancy dress for their string of intimate shows around the release of their new album 'Reflektor' but have also done the same for their bigger tour next year.

"Please wear formal attire or costume" a line on the Ticketmaster website reads.

The UC provides an intimate experience? Also, tickets seems pretty expensive.

AMEX pre-sale has them pegged at 81, 61 and 41. I guess the intimate venue requires the high prices :?

This is about as corporate of a band as you can possibly get, their moves/media blitz/gimmicks are more meticulously crafted than some boy bands

More and more I wish someone would punch Win Butler in his fat face.

Edwin Farnham "Win" Butler III

CH, is very right about him needing a face punching:

About his hair, Butler has said, "Being in a rock band, I feel a certain responsibility to have a weird haircut. I mean, who else gets to do that?"[

A responsibility? Oh, brother.

Will this sell-out? Is it worth buying and then attempting to sell?

I'd guess it will not sell out. Seems like a huge venue for them.

Depends on how it's staged and how many mid-sized cities they play near Chicago. If it's a super-regional event and it's set up for like 15,000 seats, sure, they could do that.

Incidentally, I've sworn off XRT until they can stop playing songs off this album every two hours and promoting it every commercial break. Is this what it was like when Mellon Collie came out? Jesus fucking Christ.

Well, would it kill them to play, like, "Neighborhood #3" and remind me of the times when this band was new and different and I didn't want someone to hit that pie-faced doofus really hard? Which CBS subsidiary is distributing this album?

I had to stop listening a few months ago because it seemed like every other song was the same one by Of Monsters and Men, Mumford & Sons, or The Lumineers. I also really dislike the sound of Mary Dixon's voice. It was always so nice when she was on vacation. I wish she'd go on a hot-air balloon ride to Pluto.

It was that "making you shake" song, wasn't it. Or something Lumineers.

I don't mind Mary Dixon, and find her voice perfectly agreeable.

I remember when Neon Bible came out and I saw that "No Cars Go" was on it. I was like "they're just using a track from the EP? That's lame." But then it was a new arrangement, and it was breathtaking, and made the one on the EP -- which, before the second album came out, was The Best Song Not On Funeral -- sound like a half-awake toss-off.

I've heard this album referred to as their Remain In Light. I get the comparison, but Remain In Light wasn't fucking dumb.

So they hit the Midwest/Great Lakes very hard:
Louisville
Minneapolis
Auburn Hills
Cleveland
Kansas City
St. Louis
Columbus
Nashville

bagels, is probably right that Lolla is happening too. They play 7/30 in California and then their next show is the 8/8 in Seattle. Conveniently, Lolla is 1-3. So prolly isn’t a buck to be made on these fucks for their UC show. Damn.

I thought it would be safe to come back to The Big Beat and I just heard another Arcade Fire song on there, too! I wonder who Andrew Patner has on this week.

On a cold day like today, because it has to be cold and snowy to fully appreciate songs about Montreal ice storms and neighborhoods, I'm reminded of just how damn good Funeral was and is, and what a revelation it was to hear raw, genuine emotion in an ocean of infinitely recursive irony and self-awareness. How the mighty have fallen.

Had a tune from that album come up on my Pandora an hour ago.

Was it "Neighborhood #3"? You gotta play that one fucking loud. "Une année sans lumiere" is really good, too. And "Rebellion." It's all good, really.

I don't recall for sure. It is a very good album I concur.

Where'd you play your indie rock, Curious Hair?

This album is amazing.
You're wrong.
Go enjoy your Florida Georgia Line cassette.

Tell me why it's amazing. What does it do that's fantastic? Songs are too long, they're repetitive, they lack all the things that made the Arcade Fire the Arcade Fire. It's a bore.

And I've never heard the Florida Georgia Line and shame on you for even suggesting something called "the Florida Georgia Line" is in my wheelhouse.

Florida Georgia Line is up anyone's wheelhouse if yer up to drankin burrs, durrrivin trurks, chasin skurts.....
It was a joke - they're the worst, it's hilarious.
You claimed you didn't even get past 4 songs or so, so you tell me why it sucks so much if you haven't heard it.

Yeah, the whole thing was a big self-fulfilling prophecy. But it did have Matt Spiegel covering Lorde.
