Come on. At least respect the spirit of this. Pick a team that actually had a legitimate chance of winning.

 Give me Grossman without the rain.

Or Prior with heart?!?

Prior's heart did not play a role in that

From a non-Chicago perspective, game 6 of the 2013 NBA Finals. Ray Allen should never have gotten that three off.

Illinois should have beaten North Carolina in 2005. Illinois had a better team and had gone through losing Self, buying into a new system, having the unbeaten streak, coming back against Arizona. Too much to let Sean May and 5 foul calls in 9 minutes for Augustine not allow them to finish the way it should have.

Honorable mention - We should have won our first round game in my 8th grade tourney. We just beat that team by 25 three days before that. Refs were on the take when 4 starters foul out in 3 quarters. Come on. That never happens. I was out there moving from the power forward to the point trying to keep that thing together. That was bullshit.

Other than the Cubs 84 and 03 playoff runs, I'd say the 89 Final Four. The Flyin' Illini were the best team in college hoops that year. Should've beat Michigan, and they would've beat Seton Hall. Broke my heart. My stepdad was one of the bigger IU fans you'll find, and even he agreed. He said he lost all respect for Lou Henson after that game.

The 1996 Masters, Norman had a 6 shot lead on Faldo and choked it away. I couldn't stand Faldo back then and he hasn't moved up much on my hate scale much since then.

His complaint, not mine, was Fisher outcoached Henson. Illinois beat Michigan twice during the regular season, Fisher had zero college HC experience, and Illinois had better players. I just found it funny coming from a big IU/Bobby Knight fan.

Ah.

Maybe they should have doubled Glen Rice or something

Exactly. They defended poorly down the stretch for a team that defended Michigan well during the season. Didn't seem to adjust to the hot hand. And once or twice I heard "if they were more disciplined, Nick Anderson boxes out Sean Higgins." Being the Bobby Knight meatball he was, my stepdad firmly believed that doesn't happen to a Bobby Knight-coached team.

Pretty sure I said that about ten times after his ill-advised INT Sunday.

The series only went 5 games, so it's impossible to alter a game that was never played.

My Lou disgust started with the loss to Austin Peay-wee in '87 and Dick Vitale had to stand on his head.
He also had some damn good teams in the early '80s who didn't go nearly as far as they should have.
Just throw it out there and let them "recreate".

Obivously 03 Cubs and REx Grossman SB are my top two in order.

If I have to pick something else, 2002 NCAA Championship. Such a fun run by the Hoosiers, especially that win against Duke. To totally shit the bed against an avg Maryland team just sucked.
