That is what science is. It became about "proof" in the last 50 years of the 20th century.

Mostly it works. See the subtraction of Pluto as a planet. But when political and economic forces play a part in trying to control the world it becomes susceptible. There is a lot of funny business that goes on everywhere. So when Al Gore tells you all scientists agree trust me be skeptical. I am in the business in a different field and you couldn't get a vast majority of scientists to agree on what to eat at a conference.

Al has made a fortune off this nonsense.

I think the main thrust behind a lot of "science" is to put forward and silly and non existent fight between science and religion.

Hell the fastest warming period in history was the Medieval Climate Optimum from around 950 to 1250.

We should start our own board.

For what it's worth, The Economist (a British-based weekly newspaper) recent published an article (a collection of words relating to a particular topic) about problems with modern science.

http://www.economist.com/news/leaders/2 ... goes-wrong

http://www.economist.com/news/briefing/ ... ot-trouble

(I think you can look at 5 articles per day for free at their site)

Yup, just like Tornadoes in the fall.

We also have reports that solar activity is affecting global warming (or lack thereof):

They are back.

Just because you don't remember it being this cold doesn't mean that global warming is to blame. It gets cold sometimes. In fact, fairly recently that there was a big glacier where your house is now. You think during that whole time that it never went below 0 degrees?

No, no, no you fool .... the world had always been at the temperatures we experienced during the baby boomer year, that's clear scientific fact and to say otherwise makes you an irresponsible Republican asswipe.

There's also no reason for anyone to even jokingly suggest that there is any dissension amongst experts nor is there anything that remotely suggests that a lot of this important global warming awareness movement produces profits in excess of the dreams of Avarice.

Holy albedo! I don't have time to deny global warming. I'm too busy stuffing my face with greasy cheeseburgers and photoshopping pics of polar bears on ice floes.

I assume you are being sarcastic and saw "An Inconvenient Truth". All the things that were predicted in that movie are coming true. But who wants to make changes in their lifestyle that would be inconvenient? Easier to call bullshit on global warming and believe the theories forwarded by people who help us believe that maybe all the self-indulgent behavior Americans have enjoyed for generations, is NOT a primary reason for these problems. Just look at the polar ice that has melted and the temperatures of the seas.

No. but if you take steps to reduce the carbon footprint you generate, that would help. Things like driving an electric/hybrid car, recycling responsibly, having an energy efficient home, all make a difference. Even if you don't do everything you might to help, lying to yourself and forwarding the notion that there is no problem and if there is that you have no part in it is just silly denial.
