dude, pittmike.... Terry's prolly making 6 figures to use an ISDN line ~2-3 times a week or whatever to basically sit there and rubberstamp everything Dan says. It's like somebody on here described Speagol as being "bored in the toy aisle of life" in regards to his seeming lack of enthuiasm for an awesome bullshit job that 99% of us would kill for.

I can't fault Terry for doing what he does....Dan's got that FOTSish tick in him to do VERY. IMPORTANT. RADIO. with his podium and he's got social justice causes a-gogo and listeners to browbeat into his way of thinking, and dude Terry's gotta be in his mid-60s or something, right? He doesn't have the desire to go out and fight the good fight anymore....Bernstein won whatever "war" there was @ the station, ask Beardown. It's over. So basically Terry's got a nice cushy good-paying (at least relative to the kind of "work"it is) job that'll allow him to pad his coffers and support the family all while just cackling along in a veritable Robin Quiversesque fashion. Can you blame him?'

I think the operative phrase here is "smoke 'em if you got 'em"--- and honestly, if you were in his position would you cause headaches and problems trying to stave off the FOTS from doing his thing, or would you just smile and nod all the way to the next direct deposit?

jimmy, i feel where you're coming from on this one. my inner DIY/punk-rock idealist spouts those platitudes about being "real" (hearkening the quintessential mental image of somebody sitting alone in their basement drinking a 40 by themselves randomly blurting out "FUCK ALL Y'ALL AT LEAST I'M REAL") and rah rah rah.... it's really easy for people in our position outside of "the toy aisle of life" to say what we would or wouldn't do...

but comeon man.... it's a pyrrhic-victory-at-best with bernstein, and given that Beardown would tell you that Dan unofficially rules the score roster with an iron fist, you know, kind of like how Queen Amidala was able to have Keira Knightley, aka Mitch Rosen, don the fancy wardrobe and partake in the pomp and circumstance whilst the REAL power was hidden behind the formal throne --- yeah, it'd be futile to mess with that.

that said, man oh man, if i could be a fly on the wall during a commercial break in one of those ISDN shows.... you know that terry has gotta make some priceless quips to peach/cary/whoever's-around about what's going on, and i think deep down somewhere if you were to crack a beer with terry he'd tell you what he really thinks and you'd have your faith restored in him..... but the way things are going right now, man, you don't mess with a good thing. let bernstein run off to save the world while you just tag along and uh huh mm-hmm and "i totally agree" all the way to the OTB.... in your mercedes.

Wow,just read the article. I can't beleive this guy had "credentials". Pretty non-informational column. Ok,he saw his mom cried and then he read some conspiracy theory books. Amazing stuff. He's better off hemming and hawing over the ISDN.

I'm a Grotes guy myself. I do enjoy Terry though.

While it is easy to take shots at his prose, his content, and even the context (yes, Terry's youth revisited, again), something else stands out. Actually, two things: Has the confessed conspiracy nut now become fully accepting of the things he is now spoon-fed? And, did he intend the complacency of the ISDN line to cement his WSCR pecking order role to that of helper monkey/toady?

Just as Terry likes to wax nostalgically about his youth, I too like to do the same about the "Heavy Fuel Crew" days. For example, the Terry back then would openly mock and deride the Terry Boers of today. I'm reminded of him once attacking John Madden for his sideshow broadcaster act. Pointing out how his video game franchise is for the same idiots who probably like Madden's TV act, and the type of people he could do without at the remotes.

In too many ways the current Terry Boers is similar to the Madden he used to deride. He travels in his own mode (ISDN), and performs as Dan Bernstein bids. What is important to Dan is what is now important to Terry, and providing the Madden-like "noises and grunts" to whatever Dan delivers is his role. Ask Terry to give an opinion first and its couched in such rambling, stuttering and bumbling, that it is fair to ask if something is wrong with him? Or has he's gotten that lazy and complacent to just let whatever come out of his mouth come out (conversely, when Bernstein speaks first Terry agrees within seconds 96% of the time, or says nothing the other 3% of the time).

This article shows that while Terry may not have that much to say, it would at least be quite a bit more than what he does say 1-6 p.m. The happy medium for the majority of listeners is that while there shouldn't be agreement on every point, there should generally be some understanding as to why. The old Terry engaged disagreement freely and regularly whereas the current Terry agrees compliantly and all but automatically, and it doesn't make any sense as to why.

The Oswald of sports talk radio's mantra of the fans talking to the fans really does have a conspirator.

I guess the Secret Service's tradition of being hard-partiers is a long-standing one and of course the senior agents were out partying around the Metroplex the night before JFK was shot. The next day some of them were too hungover to deal with the heat and whatnot of riding in the open-air trail car so rookie agent George Hickey was given an AR-15 and a job he wasn't ready for. Once Oswald starts shooting Hickey panics and accidentally fires off the fatal shot.

Interesting that a few Secret Service agents have committted suicide in the last year and several others forced to retire/resign. Most think this is in preparation for Candidate/President Hillary, as she's had a rocky relationship with the SS since her days as First Lady.

That article sounds exactly like it had been written by Bob Greene when he was at the Tribune.
