Kicks off 9/8 in all its glory. The previews have looked pretty good. We are going to get a lot of Chicago and
New York plot lines, more Capone and what appears to be as much or more blood than usual. YES! I am
interested to see where my guy Richard Harrow ends up going. One of the best characters on television.

Fuck yeah. I somehow got confused last weekend and thought that was the premier, so that was a letdown. Fucking huge day Sunday with the start of the Bears season, the 9ers-Packers tilt, another Breaking Bad and the Boardwalk Empire premier.

I read in the Trib that there will be a lot of Capone/Cicero 1924 mayoral election storyline with brothers Ralph and Frank Capone. Should be a good season.

Nice way to kick off the season. I watched last night but didn't really pay attention to the dialogue
so I will need to rewatch. Richard has gone completely rogue which I love!

Dialogue does get a bit wordy sometimes, especially when you want to see some gunshots, etc, but does anything compare to Newsgeeks?

Every line is unending witty repartee!

'can I interest you in caffeine induced mental stimulation beverage for your late night duldrums?'
'Possibly, if you can equate it with the modern day free trade agreements that allegedly were in place at the exact time the beans were plucked from the tree in the southern american country that produced the product you are proposing to purchase and support'

Translation

"Do you want a coffee?'
"Maybe"

Anyone else watching this? Another good episode last night and things are shaping up with the
Chicago storyline. Not sure how I feel about them introducing J. Edgar Hoover to the mix. The
new Dr. character that they introduced last night should make things interesting.

Yeah, that guy was awesome. He was so calm and cool during the entire sit-down with Nucky and Chalky. Him and Chalky will probably be going to war soon. I don't think Chalky will be with us much longer.

Chalky: Get your Jamaican ass out of here!

Dr Narcisse: I am from Trinidad.

Yeah, in the season previews he didn't come off as being much of a match for the Atlantic City guys but
the end of that episode cemented how bright and ruthless he is. Not sure what is going on with the Richard
character, seems to be losing his edge which is disappointing.

I think Dunn will get taken out soon. The Dr. will play the girls death off on him. I think Nucky may tell Chalky to off him to keep the peace. The Chicago stuff will carry the season.

Been kind of an odd start to the season with this Tampa storyline and also with the kid at college. Not
sure how that really ties in. Richards time in Wisconsin was pretty disjointed and other than getting a
little bit of an understanding about his relationship with his sister didn't make a whole lot of sense. To
me it seemed as though he was ready to put down his guns and settle in but where he goes from here
I am not completely sure. I am hoping Chicago. That storyline appears to be heating up by watching
the previews for next week.

Couple of interesting deaths this past episode. Other than the Chicago storyline this
series has been kinda ho-hum so far this season. Still wondering where Richard Harrow
is going to pop up again.

Yeah this season hasn't done much for me. I was a fan of Capone's brother. I had a feeling Eddie was going to take the bitch way out. Previews show Harrow returns next week.

Solid episode last night. I really hope Eli doesn't turn snitch. I'm thinking he doesn't give them shit, and then the Feds eventually end up turning Will on the family. Shit is heating up with Chalky and the Dr. Hopefully Chalky takes his ass out. Looks like shit gets real in Chicago next week.

I was concerned they were going to eliminate Chalky last night and it would have been a shame to lose such a solid charachter. A couple seasons ago William Forsyth had a great run on the series and then was killed off and his charachter (the butcher) was a really good one. it was a relief that he survived. I think Eli has turned snitch unfortunately, but maybe he too will wind up dead before he can testify against Nucky in court. Maybe he even kills himself.

Pretty good episode last night. Only a handful of episodes left in this season. Richard working for Nucky
would be good. Lot of Chicago action this week and good to see Agent Van Alden get a bit of his edge
back. He appears to be tired of getting pushed around. Chalky wants to kill Dr. Narcisse really badly
now. Just not sure how that is going to end for him.

Good episode last night. Will Narcisse go after Chalky's family to hurt him? Did Johnny Torio order
the hit on Al? Not sure what the real life story was on that. Not sure where this storyline with the
feds is going.

Solid finale last night. I got a feeling season 5 could be the end of the show.

Definitely seemed like the beginning of the end. Sad to see Richard go but his storyline really didn't have
much going on so it was an interesting way for him to go out. I thought he was one of the more interesting
characters on TV for a few seasons there.

Yeah, he was the only really likeable guy on the show. Maybe Will can fill the void for a character that isn't a complete scumbag.

I thought this was the best season yet. I've seen lots of complaints about cliches in the finale (Willie interrupting Nucky/Eli just in time, Maybelle being in front of Richard, Richard's "Occurrence at Owl Creek" ending), but it still worked for me, especially because it was such a deviation from the previous seasons' endings.

Why did it seem like the beginning of the end? They have a ton of possible stuff to still explore. I know it probably wont, but a show like this could easily crank out 8 or 9 quality seasons. They have all the necessary parts to do it.

True.

Richard definitely had to go though. There was nothing left for his character to do after Tommy's grandmother is going away for murder.

I think they'll shift more to a New York City and Chicago based show.

Yeah I agree. His character was perfectly fleshed out and killed off at the perfect time. Just awesome writing. One of my favorite TV show characters ever. "Jimmy was a soldier. He fought. He lost." and "Jimmy deserved better than this." were two of my favorite lines from the whole series so far.

That seems like the more interesting angle to take, but they cant really go too far in that direction or else the series name and opening sequence will start to seem pretty silly.

I just thought it felt that way with Nucky getting picked up by the feds and some other characters getting pinched.
I am not watching a series where 35% of the story is taking place in a courtroom. I doubt it will shake out that way
but it just felt that way to me. I have no problem with them cranking out 4 more seasons as long as they are strong.
HBO is kind of at the point where in a lot of cases their series kind of fizzle out and start to suffer from fatigue. Not
sure if that is because of writer turnover or what but it has happened.
