Unless you are 90 years old or disabled, there's no excuse for not making your own Thanksgiving dinner. You got the day off for God's sake. What else have you to do? You can't spend a couple of hours to do something special for your family/friends? Next time maybe just send them a gift certificate to Applebees.

aight, rant over. Commence flaming.

That's how I roll, but some people can't cook. I would rather eat something good from a restaurant, than eat some dry, bland turkey.

If you think it only takes a couple hours to make Thanksgiving dinner, then you've taken a bold step forward in being a leading retard on the board.

i wouldn't be opposed at all if someone purchased a pre-cooked meal as long as it was good

i am kind of opposed to going out to a restaurant though, just seems like a day you should spend at (someone's) home

A couple of years in the late 90's, my family went out to dinner. It was great. Plus, I didn't have to eat turkey, then.

There is a ton that goes into it. We host turkey day every year. Wednesday night, we will start preparing the vegetables, and my wife will make the stuffing (potatoes, Jimmy Dean pork sausage, onions, and sage).

After dinner on Thursday, we make a turkey stock. Friday, we make soup, with rice, and the leftover turkey and veggies.

How hard is it to microwave a turkey?

Not nearly as much fun as just sticking the frozen bird into a deep fryer.

I could make thanksgiving dinner in two hours (not including time bird is in oven).
1. Turkey add salt put in oven. 5 minutes.
2. Stovetop stuffing 5 minutes
3. Peel and boil potatoes, add a pound of butter, mash. 15 minutes
4. Throw several bags frozen veggies in a pot, low heat, add buter 5 minutes.
5. Throw heat and serve rolls in the toaster oven. 5 minutes.
6. Request guest bring cheese or dips
7. Open Cook's sparkling wine

Turkey Dinner Boom under two hour.

Not everybody has the next day off.

Hatchetman, what kind of oven do you have that can cook a full turkey in 2 hours?

I just said, "not including time bird is in the oven." you can watch football during that time. no work required.

Why would you need the NEXT day off to cook on Thanksgiving day?

You do know it takes longer than 15 minutes to boil potatoes, right?

We're talking labor requirement here. You don't actually have to watch the potatoes boil.

Were you the guy who boiled his potatoes for potato salad for like an hour?

No

To be fair, the dinner you described reminds me of the last Thanksgiving dinner my grandma made at her place. It wasn't good.

Yeah Hatchetman described the worst meal ever. Bad turkey, terrible stuffing, no gravy, no sweet potatoes, no deviled eggs, no pumpkin pie. I'd rather hang out with Frank in his basement drinking beer than eating that dinner.

You think the dinner in a box from the Jewels would be any better?

Hey, I never claimed it would be GOOD.

I wanted to make gnocchi for Thanksgiving, but Ma said "Dad wants his traditional turkey", so I said "fine YOU make it. I don't even like turkey anyhow. Just make sure you pick up some kielbasa so I have something good to eat."

My assessment is confirmed. Best-in-show retard.

Never had dinner in a box, either.

Gnocchi sounds good. Actually, any alternative to turkey sounds good. The only thing I'm looking forward to this year for Christmas is that my aunt is making lasagna instead of turkey. It will be glorious.

I've had the mashed potatoes, stuffing, mac and cheese and cole slaw from our local grocery store (Strack's). It was all pretty good.

well, if you're going to go that route, at least throw some turkey necks in the oven to smell up the house and dirty some pots and pans and make it look like you care.
