Nice. My wife cooked up a rabbit not long ago. She picked it up at the zabiha halal live poultry shop on Devon and Western. Watched them kill it right there in front of her too. The recipe was pretty good but my unfamiliarity with the bone structure made it difficult for me to eat. I'll know better next time.

I used to go hunting with my dad & grandfather as a yout. Rabbit hunting. In the winter. Of course they weren't progressive enough to let a 10 year old get a nip of antifreeze. And my grandfather hunted until he had his fill.

Then ultimately watch my grandmother skin & cook those rabbits.

I cannot eat rabbit to this day.

Honest questions. 1. How long did he/she live? 2. What in the hell do you do with a pet rabbit after the first few days novelty wears off?

Almost 10 years. He was a happy little thing. We'd play with toys, he'd run, and sit and let me pet him. He'd lay on the top of the couch pillow sometimes or next to me. He was potty trained. He had floppy ears and was light brown with a white belly that he loved to have rubbed.

Why would anyone serve anything other than Turkey on Thanksgiving? We're cooking a 25 pound bird along with stuffing, Mashed potatoes, Yams, Brussell Sprouts, Broccoli casserole, & rolls. Drinking Johan Falkenberg Reisling from Sam's Club too. $9.95 for a double sized bottle & its great with Turkey. As much as I love stuffing & mashed potatoes, I have been on the caveman paleo diet for 3 Months & cant eat either. No desert either.

Has anyone ever done that cranberry horseradish relish that Susan Stamberg talks about on NPR every year?

Turkey white meat is terrible. Tastes like old carp out of the Fox River. The dark meat isn't too bad, but its got all them damn pin bones or whatever they are. Gotta use a pliers to get those bitches out.

Were I going gluten free stuffing, I'd go the chestnut route.

My friends and I have a running joke that we are going to open a restaurant called "Cal-Sag Sushi" and we will serve only what we catch out of the Cal-Sag. For drinks, the two options are water from the Cal-Sag, and PBR on tap.

You'll thank me later. Been making this for 3 years now, best mac n cheese I've ever had.

Pro Tip: It calls for 12oz of bacon, get an extra 6oz.

Pro Tip #2: Pay extra for top of the line cheeses.....Whole Foods has some really good aged white Irish cheddar that goes great with this recipe. Also, get some good bacon...I get mine from Paulina Meat Market.

I used to catch carp with doughballs over by the Algonquin dam. Gave them to old guys who came all the way from the city to catch them. Back when gas was 49 cents/gallon. Never ate one myself. Using my imagination.

Boyd is a genius.

I think we had a thread about this a few yeas back, but Thanksgiving might be the most over rated of the "major" holidays. Save for football and beer, it's pretty useless. So it's pretty much as awesome as every Saturday and Sunday between September and January.

Genius, no. Misunderstood, yes.

I can easily rank every Thanksgiving dinner I've ever had.

1. Mid-late 90's when the family would go out to eat (steak dinner boom)
2. Last year (first Thanksgiving at the then future in-laws). Watching the Lions epically lose while surrounded by Lions fans.
3. 2009; post divorce, got tanked on a pint of Jack and a 12 pack of Silver Bullets. Made grandma's turkey palatable. Also, family Airplane! watching while we were all drunk.
35th. Tie. All the rest. Bad.

which is pretty awesome

I would think Thanksgiving begins the absolute best month of the year for a school teacher.

I touched it too, and immediately washed my hands. Who knows what happened to that thing at the batchelor party.
