I have been watching football for quite a while and I cant recall a single time where the botched snap on 3rd down thing happened. I've seen games that were lost due to bad snaps leading to missed FGs but nothing comes to mind where kicking on 3rd down actually helped the team. Stupid play.

Fire Trestman, Fire Emery.

This thing about kicking on 3rd down is stupid too. How many times have teams kicked on 3rd down where it's actually been a bad snap where doing that "saved " them? I can't recall that happening. Matter of fact it cost Minnesota and the Bears both doing that exact thing

Its prudent on 3rd down if its a chip shot. Why not give yourself two tries?

Its not worth it to go from a 27 yarder to a 24 yarder

But on second down from 47 mf'n yards is insane

If you miss a field goal on third down, it's not fourth down next. The other teams take possession. Or am I wrong?

Fumbled snap, etc, you cover the ball up and try again

And any one of those scenarios, on a 47-yard attempt, puts you damn near out of FG range, which makes Tresty's flub even more damning.

botched snap you're going to lose at least five yards anyway. so now you're looking at a 52 yarder. The more I think about it, the better I like the decision.

No.

Dont be silly in the name of Trestman

Kicking on third down is a good idea when its a game winner from under 30 yds

How many potentially game winning field goals have you seen missed? How many were imperfect snaps? Probably quite a few. Having a mulligan from 4 yds back might not be a bad idea.

But second down is dumb and second down from 47 yards is borderline criminal

They could have still done it on third down after a run up the gut on second.

No excuse to do it on second down. If you cant secure the ball for one play on one handoff then you're doing something horribly wrong.

No, I get what you are saying RPB but in reality it is so ingrained that you get the snap, place the ball and then kick it. I literally dont remember a single time that a team was on 3rd down, got a bad snap and either spiked the ball or just covered it up and re-kicked on 4th down.

Us Packers fans are getting sick and tired of McCarthy. I think Trestman and McCarthy need a change of scenery to light a fire under their asses. Coach swap!!!

Well, the greatest RB ever just went backwards four yards on third down not a couple minutes earlier. So yes, things can go horribly wrong. What is the statistical probability, I dunno. Unless I have that data (can't find anything) I can't say the decision was terrible. Yet.

This would all be valid if we were talking about third down.

Even if they lose 4 yards, they still have another play to gain it back.

THere is ZERO excuse for the second down call

And no matter how accurate a kicker is, no one is automatic from further than 40

So now we've concluded that Coach Einstein would be better suited for an OC job? What happened to him being Really Smart?

Someone should ask him today "Why are you 40 minutes late?" Love Dan's Monday Morning Reporter. Wonder if Leary teaches his kids that.

Hahaha, forget the second-down attempt, now Marc Trestman has committed the cardinal sin of coaching: inconveniencing the beat reporters!

PEOPLE PLANNED THEIR DAYS HERE GOD DAMN IT

Maybe Tressman decided as soon as they got within a 48 yarder, he was going to kick a FG come hell or high water, no matter what the down.

Seriously, this might bethe most fired up I've heard Dan after a loss. It took the fact that Brad Biggs might miss lunch.

Just as FYI -- The Jay Cutler Show (where Matty gets all of his insider info.) is on now. I recommend it.

Marc Trestman has already cost the Score money today because they couldn't Monetize Everything on an update. Now they owe the Chicago Wolves and Menards a make-good! You're toying with sales reps' lives here, man!

Yeah that's what I'm saying , I can't recall a time when that's actually happened .

I heard some form of Matt denying he said any such thing on Larry and Matt. When did he say what it is alleged he said? What did he actually say?

Gonna lol for days if Trestman really is being fired for kicking on second down.

NOW they give the full treatment to a Trestman press conference.

Someone intelligent should call in today to call the hire, the hiring process and the GM into question. See if you can twist these two into pretzels.

What did Cutler say about playing against the Cowboys? Is he gonna practice on Wenesday?

Tresty was just asked if any coach spoke up to question the field goal attempt on second down.

Why not just expressly ask him if he now thinks it was a dumb assed decision?!?
