I had watched a few episodes and the finale and I started from the beginning.

Great show.

The finale was perfect. Of course, Tony got shot. The black screen was fulfilling the foreshadowing about "not hearing it"

Few things

Liv Soprano was the best actor on the show. Great role played to perfection. It's a shame the actress died before she could testify against Tony. I believe that was a huge part of the original story.

Spider was pretty hacky most of the time. I was surprised. I wasnt expecting Daniel Day Lewis but there were certain scenes where he looked like he had no clue what he was doing.

Carmella was good, not great.

Junior was awesome. Another great character played to perfection.

I dont think it fell off at the end so much as just the one story line (vito) was terrible. You take that portion out and its consistently good.

There's one season where Carmella owned the show. When she tells him about being in love with Furio, that's a tour de force.

I watched a large part of the series as I love mob related shows. I found that each episode opened too many plot lines only to ignore them later on or close them out quickly. In any case, it was very entertaining and mainly driven by very strong character development. You fell in love with certain characters and liked watching how they grew (or died) throughout the season.

I could watch Ralph making the crank call a million times and still laugh my ass off every time.

"Yes, ma'am, a gerbil."
"Oh my God!"

Yeah, she was great in that episode. I guess I just had some pretty lofty expectations.

She was good.

I felt like Liv, Tony, Junior, and Johnny Sack were cut above the rest.

One minor issue that I was able to overlook: They seemed to focus waaaaay too much on Tony's dreams and what they mean. I dont think much of that goes on in therapy. I mean you talk about dreams maybe, but the Dr doesnt sit there itemizing the dream and what each part meant.

Yeah, Paulie was great.

Silvio, too.

Him running out on to the Soccer field and threatening to shove the whistle up the ref's ass was hilarious.

Also, the thing he said at Chris's intervention was maybe the hardest I laughed at the whole show

Silvio Dante: When I came to open up one morning, there you were with your head half in the toilet, your hair was in the toilet water... disgusting.

How about the Chris scene where he is acting and punches that guy cold in the face?

Yeah, Livia was terrific, which makes "her" last episode that much more awkward to watch.

Yeah, he was all or nothing. Certain scenes he was great and others it was like he was a 15 year old trying out for a school play.

His best scene was when he first turned on Tony and was ripping him to his girl.

Oh and shooting the guy in the bakery in the foot was a hilarious reference

You guys are making me realize I forgot a large portion of that show. I only watched it once, so unlike a lot of movies, I don't have the recall of all the great scenes.

Agree with you on the Johnny Cakes storyline.

The one that still sticks out to me is how they treated Furio. They just sort of wrote him out of the script. Voila, he's gone back to Italy. Unless I'm forgetting something.

I still laugh at Christopher's line to Adriana after killing her dog. "Maybe he crawled under there for warmth or something."

The whole intervention scene was great

Adriana La Cerva: [at Christopher's intervention] But when you killed Cosette, that was the last straw.
Anthony 'Tony' Soprano Sr.: Killed the dog? What'd you do that for?
Christopher Moltisanti: It was an accident!
Paulie 'Walnuts' Gualtieri: What, was it barking?
Is this interesting? | Share this

[at Christopher's intervention]
Dominic Palladino: Paul, you wanna read your statement?
Paulie 'Walnuts' Gualtieri: I don't write nothin' down, so I'll keep this short and sweet. You're weak. You're outta control. And you've become an embarrassment to yourself and everybody else.

From Wikipedia:

hahaha

"Vito tells Jim that "sometimes you tell a lie so long, you don't know when you are safe" and the two decide to patch things up. They then take a motorcycle ride together that results in a romantic picnic and them making love in a secluded field."

James Gandolfini was invited to audition for the part of Tony Soprano after casting director Susan Fitzgerald saw a short clip of his performance in the 1993 film True Romance.[14]

Lorraine Bracco, who had played the role of mob wife Karen Hill in Goodfellas, was originally asked to play the role of Carmela Soprano. She took the role of Dr. Jennifer Melfi instead because she wanted to try something different and felt the part of the highly educated Dr. Melfi would be more of a challenge for her.[33]

Tony Sirico, who has a criminal background,[34] signed on to play Paulie Walnuts as long as his character was not to be a "rat".[35]

Tony is really good in True Romance, a creep, badass, etc. I could see why he was cast based on his True Romance role. Walken is also very good in that movie, the trailer scene is pretty good including some racist commentary on Italians and Blacks.

There was that one dream when his identity was switched and it was like 15 minutes of the show?

Finnerty. Gandolfini spoke with his natural lisp for that.

I thought the show phased out the therapy in a hacky way. One day Milfy is having dinner and some stuffed shirt mentions something about how a certain type of patient uses the therapy sessions to justify their sociopathic behavior. Then, she has one final meeting with Tony and ends their relationship abruptly. And Tony just accepts it and never tries to return, which I believe was against his character. I think they could have fleshed that out a bit since him being in therapy was such a vital part of the show in the earlier seasons.

Good show, not great. carmella was outstanding , best performance on the show..her or junior . The ending was as bad as i have ever seen. this thread is right up there with "is tiger back " n the nas browns-colts - trent Richardson thread.

You're just all kinds of wrong, Playa.

Sorry the finale wasnt spoon fed to you. Did you need to see Tony get shot?

He got shot. It ended. That's it.

The fact that you think Carmella was better than Tony or Liv pretty much means your opinion has to be dismissed

Yeah, that was the second to last episode and it was pretty rushed and non believable.

You are speculating he got shot, who knows. breaking bad, now that's some great acting-writing and ends like the masterpiece it was.
