Or so says Rick Telander in today's column. Noted scribes Dan and Teary should have much to say aboot that. Do yourself a favor , don't listen.

Telander is a pud. I hope he is roundly mocked.

Is an intern or someone going to tell Terry who Jordan Lynch is before the show starts?

...or at least leave him a message on his answering machine.

Sitting this one out because I saw on twitter that Dan is outraged about putting on the Hawks game and seeing a fight. Went on to say that they should treat fighting exactly how the NBA treats fighting. But for Dan's consideration, I will pull up some fairly instructive numbers, thanks to hockeyfights.com:

Image

Fighting majors this year and last year. The Hawks were in a four-way tie for 25th in fighting majors last season and are in another four-way tie for last this season. Combined, they're next-to-last with only the Red Wings below, with roughly one fight for every four games. Dan doesn't need to tell us hockey doesn't need fighting. The Hawks already know. The Leafs have more than triple the fights this calendar year, and they don't have a championship to defend. Fighting talk is thus about as germane to Chicago hockey as what should be done with James Reimer, and I bet Dan doesn't know what should be done with James Reimer, either.

If Dan starts shrieking about fighting in hockey for the bazillionth time people should start calling and say "No! No! No! We are not doing that show today!"

I would like if he tried to trudge up that misleading statistic about fighting vs. puck possession again today.

Also, of the four fights the Hawks have had, two were with Ryan Reaves, one was with Rich Clune, and the one last night was Antoine Roussel. Reaves is a goon on a team of goons, Roussel is a loudmouth who had been running Kane all night on Friday and had shit coming, and Clune is a supremely untalented blockhead who does nothing but run around trying to fight everyone he sees. Frankly, if that's all you have through 29 games, I think you're doing a great job keeping your collective head.

Terry does. He is your expert on net keepers.

I just read Beerstain's take on Mike Thomas and why Thomas is sticking with Beckman.

Here's the highlights, edited for maximum annoyance:

"...shortsighted and ignorant of the economic data."

"...massive, major-market television deals."

"When Rutgers and Maryland and the New York/Baltimore/Washington markets come on line..."

"...Zook was a better coach."

The rejections were far better than the actual nominees.

Oh crap! I forgot it was Quote of the Year!

It has to be either WINT or Les explaining the three-technique. I just hope it's not Gary from Evanston saying "Hi guys," in yet another offering to St. Garius of Evanston, patron saint of not quite getting comedy bits.

The Chris Rongey one is the weakest and just seems to be there as more of a meta-joke of Mocking Chris Rongey than anything that's funny on its own merits.

Drinky has had 15 to 20 dumb quotes this year. If not more. The drink isn't gonna mock himself, though. That's why we have to do it.

I think Les wins.

Why is the Ditka one in the field? Did I miss something funny in the quote? I guess it's WYC worthy, but not funny.

Spot on. Hell, if they wanted Ditka, pick the one where he's fumbling over his words on C'mon Man.

What time did they play the non-finalists? I'm stuck at the McDonald in Woodfield mall with my laptop and no headphones. Would like to hear them. Any reason this show is a week early? The last 3 years it's been the same Wednesday as our work Christmas party, which is the same week every year, but that's next week.

Would not be entirely surprised if they were not allowed to use that audio.

I've heard it on their show a few times. Pretty sure they played it yesterday.

It was the best I could do.

I tried to get the original artists but they're all dead.

Thanks, Doc. Yes, those are more entertaining than the nominees.
