Year end golf scramble tomorrow. 10 am shotgun. 27 holes should be interesting. Looks like mid 40s
and 10-20 mph winds. Would be nice to play well and feel good about hanging the clubs up. There will
likely be days left to play this year but I think it is probably as good a time as any to call it a season. I
really need to get my ass into the gym on a daily basis.

All things considered I couldn't be happier with how I played this season. Started the year fighting a wicked shank due to complications from my 7th spine surgery and had to spend the first couple months learning an entirely new golf swing. Took several lessons and practiced more than anyone with a full time job should be able to. My goals at the start of the year were to be consistently in the low to mid 80s by the end of the year and to break 80 at least once. Shot a 77, my career best so very happy about that. Wish I broke 80 more than once, but that's only a minor complaint.

Got my handicap down to an 11 by the end of the year. Considering I posted a 96 and 98 back to back in May when I was struggling it feels great to go out there and shoot in the 80s consistently. Posted 51 official rounds and only 14 of those were 90 or higher.

Highlight of the season for me, even moreso than the 77, was how I played in my annual Wisconsin golf trip/tournament. Shot a 39 on the front nine at University Ridge (slope of 140) and finished that round with an 85 while battling the final day of 3 days of food poisoning. Went out in the afternoon and shot an 83 at Hawks Landing. The next day shot an 84. To work all summer to be ready for that weekend and to play that well was definitely the highlight of my summer.

All in all, considering how messed up my back is I can't be happier with the way I played. Had an MRI earlier in the week and it turns out I've been playing with 3 bulging discs and one small herniation. Been dealing with severe pain for the first half of everyday for about 2 months now and yet to get up and play the way I have over that period is nothing short of amazing in my eyes. Going to see the doc monday to review the results of the MRI, hoping the news isn't bad in terms of treatment.

Hopefully I'll feel better next year cause I have some lofty goals lined up.....want to get my handicap to single digits and to break 80 at least 3x.

After getting out of the gates a little slow with a birdie, par, par, par start my scramble team managed to
recover and go -17 over the next 23 holes and finish with a -18. We missed a first place playoff by one shot.
We let a number of birdies slip through our fingers including 5 putts that hit the hole but wouldn't drop. Really
would have been nice to win that one. I think they may have one again in the spring with a similar prize.
I hit the ball relatively well for only playing for the second time in over a month. Overall a good season. I
stepped on the scale this morning and wrote the results on the calendar. Time to get to work at the gym.

87 Saturday at Coyote Run. 4 shots really screwed up the scorecard. I played pretty well and should have been 81 or 82. Duffed 2 iron shots in the fairway, and was long and 2 wedge approach shots. Those 4 swings alone cost me at least 5 or 6 strokes. Otherwise though I played pretty well. By far my best round since playing a few weeks ago with Ugie at Gleneagles. No penalties, only missed 2 fairways with the driver and neither miss got me into trouble, 3 putted three greens on the front 9 which sucked but was able to overcome that somewhat with 3 pars on the front 9 and another 3 on the back 9. Shot 41 on the back 9 which I was very pleased with, all pars and bogeys on the back.

Weather was a little bit on the cool side but nothing too bad. Had a cup of coffee at the turn which was all I needed. Who knows if I will get out again before March (other than the Eskimo Open), so it was nice to end the season with some pretty good shots with all my clubs on Saturday.

Was chatting with my dad briefly last night. He is one of the cart guys at Augusta National and starting
yesterday and for the next few days they have their annual event to bring in new members and give them
their green jackets and what not. My dad carted one of the new members in from the parking lot and
some of his guests. Roger Goodell. Thought that was kinda cool.

That would be a really cool gig for a retired person, still jealous of your father.

Even if he doesn't you could start a 2014 thread.

Good point, that's probably a better idea. Get a fresh start on the season with a fresh thread.

BF, please ignore my earlier request.

This isn't Golden Tee. This is serious business.
